Is 13 Earls' prefered position, didn't he play fullback or wing too?[/b]

He played 13 at school level. Wing at international Under 21. he played fullback at the start of the year for Munster and moved back top centre.

He says he wants to be put at either fullback or centre in the long run and not be considered a utility back.

And bte I don't know what's up with his catching, it was near perfect when he was at Fb for Munster.
[/b][/quote]

Well maybe they should give him a chance at fullback in one of the upcoming tour games to see if he doesn't play better at fullback then at outside center...?He has got loads of talent but maybe it is wasted in a wrong position?

And we're going to have some battle between Ferris and Croft. I'd be tempted to give Croft a run out at 8 just to see if we can have both on the pitch for the tests. We saw that yes Ferris is like lightening too!!!![/b]

The more I see of this tour and the more i think about it, the more appealing 6. Croft, 7. Ferris, 8. Heaslip looks for a starting backrow.

the big difference though for Ireland was that Wallace's workrate on the deck has been upped significantly this year hence the improved performance but by picking Croft you lose that element and put the pressure back on Ferris and Heaslip.

In that case we still have the option of Williams doing lots of ground work and let slip the dogs of war that are Ferris/Croft and Heaslip.

Am I the only with a very handy fixture list at the top of every page in the Lions forum? Cheers to who ever put that up. So the answer is yes Logo, Sharks in the ASBA stadium at 6 o'clock :)

Earls isn't is good as BOD at 21 years of age. He might as well pack it in now.[/b]

Tell you what, despite 2 shite performances so far displaying he's clearly up to this level right now, let's put him in the test team. Getting destroyed by the Boks should do his confidence the world of good.

Jeremy Guscott... Who the bloody hell do you think?[/b]

While you're at it, do you have anything CONSTRUCTIVE to say?

Earls is talented, but still a boy. Same for Fitzgerald, Hapenny. Maybe Byrne as well.

I thought Hook and Earls played miraculously well considering they only had 1/3 of a back row which was being man shamed by some South African kid and Ellis at 9 but that is just me.

When i seen the backline annonuced yesterday i was concerned.

I really dunno what has happened to Shane?

Hook played well though

He was alright, which like I said earlier which is incredible with the 7, 8, and 9 he was playing with not turning up.

"Worsley was picked for his great defence"

WTF!!! That's like saying in Cricket, "we picked john doe for his safe hands out in the field". Surely good defence is a prerequisite for club rugby let alone international games? Anyway, Cheetahs will be ******** bricks that they didnt take the missed opportunities. First really good game of the tour

You see, defence is all Worsley offers. It's baffling that he is on the tour at all. He made a shitload of tackles against Wales in the six nations, that's it.

I'm sure your goal kicker and left winger have plenty of regrets, I know their names btw, but I am not going to try and spell them ;)

My feelings on the match:

The backrow was abysmal. Worsley and Powell simply should not be anywhere near the test side. Ferris, apart from his two breaks, one which he fluffed a try with an awful pass, has done his chances a huge blow. That yellow card also cost us 14 points...

Sheridan was good in the scrum, but non-existant in the loose. Jenkins for 1; yes, again I state this.

Don't see the fuss over Ford and Murray after this game... What did they do, really? Mears threw better on Wednesday than Ford did.

Ellis was ok. Didn't do his bench chances any harm.

Hook also kept his reputation intact. May just get a bench place due to his versatility.

Centres were poor. Fitzgerald deserves a chance at wing though.

Shane Williams won't get in the 22. Awful. Halfpenny deserves another chance, same as Fitzgerald.

Byrne was solid, though not brilliant. Silly drop at the end could have cost us the match. Still my starter at fullback in the tests though.

Barnes was awfully inconsistent. The Cheetahs were lying offside at the rucks most of the time, which led to most of their turnovers, yet when we did this we were penalised every time. Nonsense.

Cheetahs did ok given they were dead and buried at one point. Could've (should've?) won, but them's the breaks.

Agreed on everyting but those two because I don't think there was any fuss over Ford and Murray. Murry scrumaged well and that was it and Ford I don't think did anything special at all and his throwing was iffy. We really could have done with Flannery on tour but we won't cry over spilled milk.

If you didn't think Ferris was doing anything then you clearly weren't watching the ruck which was a mess because Powell was so damn lazy and left everything to Ferris and Worsely. He also did well in the lineout which everyone loves Croft for.

I like Teh Mite's suggestion of having Croft in the second row and Ferris at 6.

The fuss over Ford and Murray pre-tour I mean. Apparently they were strong candidates for the starting test side. Didn't see that form, to be fair.

As for Ferris at the rucktime... Well, it was a mess regardless of what he was doing. I'd like to see him start again, except with competent players around him. Agreed he was good in the lineout though.

Gotta agree with Speedy. I wasn't hugely impressed with Ferris either, he showed good pace for his try, but he won't get chances like that against the Boks anyway. He got himself yellow carded and gave away numerous other penalties. He also didn't carry the ball all that well. Saying that, he was playing with Powell and Worseley and therefore had close to no help in the rucks. Powell carried well imo, it wasn't his fault there was no support which resulted in turn overs, but as others have said, he doesn't do enough of the hard graft, making him a luxury we can't afford.

I wasn't atall impressed with the front five, with even O'Connel having a below par showing. I thought Sheridan, Ford and Murray were poor as they also offered no help at rucks, the scrum went alright, but then it has in every game so far. O'Callaghan was good in the linouts, but didn't offer anything else around the pitch which puts Alun-Wyn Jones or Croft in pole position for the tests.

In the backs, Hook had a good game, no more he could have done with the limited and poor ball he was recieving. He kicked all his goals, created Earls' try and tackled well. Inside him, Ellis was busy, but not in the same league as Phillips. Outside Hook Fitzgerald and Earls (apart from his try) were poor. Fitzgerald deserves another shot on the wing to stake a claim for the 11 jersey. Halfpenny had no chances to really show anything and also deserves another shot. Shane Williams is out of the running, another poor display which he rounded off with that intercept (although it did earn my mate £45 at the sweapstake in the pub. It was done on last try scorer and he picked Cheetas 13 out the glass lol). Byrne had a good game apart from that dropped ball, he couldn't have done much to stop the prop from scoring and he kicked well.

cheetha's are the only team tht was robbed by barnes!!
he missed a crucial penalty in the 79th minute when byrne knockd nd both ellis nd hines played th ball in a offside position!#?

Brussow had a blinder tho!!
