Didnt do to well against the worst team in the super14 eh? Good stuff from the local side. Does everyone see now why we are so annoyed at why number 6 heinrich brussouw is not in the national team! He is so good. Cant believe burger is there instead. Such bull.[/b]

was quality in fairness, can't say I'm too dissappointed that we won't be coming up against him again.

It don't think it fair to rate Fitzgerald on this one being played out of position, what the Hell has Happened to Shane Williams?

Ferris must be a starter! He is class. Great pace and strength.[/b]

indeed he was awesome for Ireland in th Six Nations and has stepped it up with his ball carrying as well since being on tour.

Poor guys... If only... If only...

Who's MOTM? (Should be Heinrich imo.)[/b]

Ferris was MOTM, collected his funny little gold coin thing after the game.

Not too much to be worried about overall, remember there were 9 "new" starters today. They seemed unable to stick to their patterns and started trying to play too freely.

Edwards made the point about the Wednesday side where you had 3 players in their second game and others coming in on the back of high intensity games in May, whereas plenty of the Saturday side today and last week were playing their first decent match in a month. The bulk of this side should be playing on Wednesday again so we should get a marked improvement.

Brussouw is some kind of magician. He can lie on his back in the middle of a ruck and, in plain view of the ref, pick up the ball and chuck it to his scrum half. No penalty! Not even McCaw gets awa ...

Or am I misunderstanding the new rules of contest on the ground?

Anyway, the weekenders have a HORRIBLE turnover rate. Even Ferris doesn't get off the hook.

Earls and Fitz are lightweights. Need to wait a few years and beef up. ****** off Darse didn't get on earlier. Disappointed with Halfpenny. Hooke and Byrne good in patches. No comment on Ickle or Ellis.

Powell is ... aaaaaawful. But the decision making that put the ball in his hands so often was worse than awful.

Ok, unfortunately I had non internet for the match because I was getting absolutely infurriated during that match by two players in particular:

Andy Powell. Ok. I get it, you can crash ball better than most people. Bue he insists on running down blind allys. Doesn't know how to offload. Isn;t that good in the ruck. There's no question for me now that Heaslip will start as 'eight man'.

Shane Williams cleary went out to prove that he's still a class act and in doing so tried to show off and do everything himself. If it wasn't for the usual meediocre camera management from SKY everyone here would be giving such abuse at the amount of overlaps he butchered by trying to beat players by sidestepping backwards. There was stage where Earls was behinds him screaming for the ball but he just steppin inwards ands sidestepped twice and got hammered back. And that intercept pass was woefull.

Besides that there were others who were poor. Why's Worsley here? We get it. He can tackle. And that's about it.

Ellis looked good for the parts of the first half and he does have good box kicks. But he's just not fast at the ruck. Phillips to start the tests. Adn that's that as far as I'm concerned.

Fitzgerald should get a shot on the wing where he plays best.

Oh, I nearly forgot. Ford is too incosistant throwing and seems to get in the way at ruck time. Meers for hooker it seems.

But, there are some bright sides. Apart from that one cock up, Byrne was excellent again today. Hook was brilliant though his distribution could have been a tad better but have Ellis inside you doesn't really help that.

Murray and Sheridan looked very good. But Jenkins will take Sheridans place regardless I'd think. But competition can never hurt.

And we're going to have some battle between Ferris and Croft. I'd be tempted to give Croft a run out at 8 just to see if we can have both on the pitch for the tests. We saw that yes Ferris is like lightening too!!!! And given all our complaints about the breakdown, in fairness Ferris and Worsley were doing it on their own considering that Powell is only ever thing about what he's gonna run into next and isn't quite sure what a ruck is but for some reason doesn't want to run into those. I saw Fitzgerald at more breakdowns than him.

Edit:

Oh....and I don't like ref bashing. Haven't done it properly since Chris White in Australia vs Ireland last Summer...but I struggle to find words to describe the shitness of Wayne Barnes.

Excellent performance by Cheetah's though! We needed one of those!

Dissapointing second half really.

Overall though you'd have to be happy that the players are getting their games and having the stuffing knocked out of them. First two games were a bit soft but that was a proper battle. Powell, Worsley, Williams and Ellis simply didnt do enough to be given another chance.

Incidently, why didnt Barnes police the scrum? I though the Lions were all over them but they werent allowed to translate it into real pressure cause Barnes let the Cheetas away with murder.

Barnes trend is to let the underdogs away with everything and ping the favourites for nothing, witness the 17-4 penalty count at Cardiff in March.

To be fair to him, he wasnt really that big a factor on the overall result.[/b]

If the Cheetahs had a goal kicker and the winger scored the try I'm guessing you would have a different attitude. Seriously, they left that game behind them.

Cheetahs will literally kick themselves that they didn't put those penalty kicks over, could've been a whole different ball game....Don't know what you Irish guys think, but I think Keith Earls was chosen way too early in his career to play for the Lions, just showed today like in the game against the Royal XV that with Earls at 13 the Lions suck abit, but with BOD at 13 the Lions rrrrrrrrrrrooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr.

can't blame Earls for the ineptitude of Worsley, Powell and Ellis, was never gonna see much ball with them arseing around.

I agree with Tarbh but at the same time I agree that the teams that Earls and Halfpenny have played in have been two inexperienced as a whole which has been a problem.

Earls isn't is good as BOD at 21 years of age. He might as well pack it in now.

Is 13 Earls' prefered position, didn't he play fullback or wing too?[/b]

He played 13 at school level. Wing at international Under 21. he played fullback at the start of the year for Munster and moved back top centre.

He says he wants to be put at either fullback or centre in the long run and not be considered a utility back.

And bte I don't know what's up with his catching, it was near perfect when he was at Fb for Munster.

He's mucking around anywhere outside of 12, but has recently been doing a job at 13 for Munster. Similar to Fitzgerald who has been capped at 12 and 11 but wants to play 15.

Earls didnt do to badly today, i dont think any of them did, though Williams look like he was trying to hard (intercepts happens).

I wouldnt be too worried, these tight games are good experience. Lets see what happens on Wednesday (there is a game Wednesday yeah?)
