Champions Cup - Pool 4, Round 1 (Bath, Glasgow, Montpellier, Toulouse)

Wow the difference James and Webber have made to that scrum is massive !!!

Come on Bath !!!!!

Bath seem determined to play to their weaknesses. Why are they doing the slow, 1 pass forwards play? Their strength is with the backs and playing at speed. Really looking directionless. Lots of inaccuracy in the basics too.

The Bath defence is absolutely atrocious, Glasgow should not be able to run through half as much as they are.

FFS completely switched off! Are none of the players looking to see what is happening!? Of your guy is having trouble at the breakdown well just stand there and do nothing to prevent a turnover.

Absolutely . Any1 know a reason why the 1st choice front row didn't start ???

Bath have been sooooooo poor this game . Where has the performance like against leicester a few weeks back ?!?

A bit over confidence combined with them having played 60-70 mins the past 6 weeks, I guess.

Possibly but Mike Ford chose to play them against London Welsh but not against Glasgow in Europe seem really strange to me .......

Glasgow 37 - Bath 10

Devastiting performance from Glasgow today. A shaky start and then they blew Bath away in the first 40 minutes. The second half over all belonged to Bath, especially in the scrum, but Glasgow kept them out and defended well only to go on and get the bonus point in the end. Glasgow's European performances in Europe have been disappointing over the last couple of years though here's hoping this may signal a change in fortunes. Time will tell.
Working night-shift this weekend and so I wasn't able to make it to the game unfortunately. Hoping to make it to the away fixture next January though.

it was a great game if Bennett doesn't get a start for scotland in the autumn tests i wont be happy

On current form then absolutely. Henry Pyrgos as well. I'm a big Matawalu fan though I think Pyrgos has made the scrumhalf position his own over the last few months.

yeah definitely if Henry Pyrgos starts at 9 for scotland i wouldn't mind that but being honest i would like to give Sean Kennedy a turn just because he's young

Bloody hell....Sky have got their commentators under the stairs again and it sounds like they are actually in a broom cupboard this time!!!

Why cannot they not get off their backsides and go to the match when they have at least five who have travelled to Toulon for the next match?

There is very little crowd noise coming off the feed and, therefore, no atmosphere at all......................mind you it only looks half full to show what the Toulousains think of the Competition and/or their chances overall, not just in this match!!

Edit..Barnes was asked by Dusatoir to review a decsion that prevented what would have been a fabulous try being given for the MOST innocuous tug of a shirt on Dusatoir that you have ever seen!! Why did Barnes agree to the request and why did he not allow the try. Sorry Barnsie that was a bad one!! But the next move they get the try anyway!!!!!

Refs are allowed to check for things if they are asked to - it's up to them.

Was a ridiculous decision though.

I was under the impression from various commentators (and also a debate on tv somewhere as to whether Captains should have the right to one request per match like cricket's rules on reviews) that the players were not allowed to ask for it (although have seen many occasions when they have given the TV sign) and wondered where the rules governing the use of the TMO are enshrined.

To my little mind, it would be crazy for players (or even captains) to be able to ask for such as play would never flow at all and not seen it done so blatantly obvious as this was where Thierry was the only one asking!!

Two cracking tries................game is not that great but there have been some great runs and some pretty crap tackling!!!

I haven't seen enough of Kennedy to comment. It's difficult to gauge with Edinburgh having such a poor start to the season. That said, that was a brilliant result away to Bordeaux the other day.

Hate to rain on your parade but Glasgow were playing a Bordeaux second XV and it is generally accepted in the Top 14 that UBB do not have a great depth of squad so feel you may like to temper your absolutely correct enjoyment of the result with just a little caution as to its real value!!

I hate to rain on your parade but Glasgow weren't playing away to Bordeaux at all. Glasgow were too busy hammering Bath.
And it may well have been a second XV from Bordeaux, but for an Edinburgh team who have been struggling recently, to go away from home to a hostile ground and win as they did was still a great result regardless.

well considering that we've been struggling for the start off the season i suppose a european win will be big for us even if we just edged it.
