Champions Cup 20/21 - Quarter Finals

Thing is Sale had to work hard for all their points, where as La Rochelle have been able to almost walk through at times. I think at the start they needed to go risky and kick to the corner, try get a quick lead and put pressure of La Rochelle forcing them to chase. They were never going to win kicking penalties and hoping their defence would be good enough. Now they are chasing and it just shows.

Was told this Lar vs Sal game was a good 'un so tuned in for second half and seems to have deteriorated. Always my luck. :(

Looks like a few Sale heads have gone. McGuigan always looks up for it though, love his attitude.

Mental thing isn't it. They know it's lost and and a bad loss, therefore they lose focus.

Some of this tackling is shocking
I think the initial line break defence was shocking, after that all the defence where scrambling against some lines that were damn near impossible to stop.

I did not look good for the Scarlets last week, but it might not be much prettier tonight, great game by La Rochelle, but the Sale team completely lost its composure

It's odd seeing Sanderson team not having a mean defence.
Was about to comment that he will be furious about their now lack of intensity and shocking tackling, possibly more that the result.

About half the Sale players mentally checked out after the try where the fullback messed up.

Some of the defending has been appalling. Pity as the first half had a lot of promise.

McGuigan is going to be forced out one of these days. Why does he have to go so close to the dead ball line for not much gain for the kicker.

Spewing we couldn't bring Haley home, Hammersley has few quality games a season but doesn't really look up to the top level athletically - decent skillset but no pace or power to go with it
Speaking of: we had no answer to the power of the La Rochelle tight 5 and couldn't handle the pace of their backs
Think we've definitely got the slowest backline in the prem - our fastest player is a crash ball 12
and then the scrum was just demolished

Don't necessarily blame players for switching off in the last half hour, but still disappointing to see

La Rochelle well worth their win, and considering we shouldn't have made the knockouts - making the quarters is a decent return

You always hear about the French arrogance, but how arrogant is the restrictive attitude of the French TV celebrating the fact that, thank God, there will be a French Club in the Champion's cup final. What about winning it, for a change?

Literally no idea what you're on about

I want Exeter to win today, but after having to stomach it all Six Nations I'm not sure if I can handle supporting Johnny Hill's hair/beard combo for another 80 minutes
Same reason everyone wants EJ to go, a new coach would have the power to enforce some esthetic criteria into the English team selection and select a qualified hairdresser into the English technical team.

We will have three French clubs in the semis, but instead of noting this as a success, the only thing the French TV mentions is that it guarantees there will be at least one French club in the Final.
The French press always sees the glass half empty!
A similar result in England would result in the whole British press claiming the Premiership is the best league in the NH, but over here the press only focusses on the minimal result we can expect.
