Canada vs. Tonga. Pacific Nations Cup. 08/05/13

The Tongan yellow for the shoulder into Evans head was a clear attempt to injure. I will be interested to see if their are any suspensions resulting from the Tongan ill-discipline, there should be but, we'll see...

As far as the coaches comments after the game they are utterly preposterous. There should be some sort of sanction for that kind of comment. It is an insult to referees that can not be left unchallenged. The idea that there is a bias against black players is stupid. Unfortunately, PI player have a long history ill-discipline. If there is any sort of bias it is the result of their continuous dirty play and not the color of their skin.

Big suspensions for the carded Tongan players, David Halaifonua (six weeks), Siale Piutau, Edmund Aholelei (three weeks).

Interesting to read the hearing reports on the IRB site - it seems that the coach viewed Halaifonua's tackle as a good one from a coach's view point, but the Judiciary disagreed ... all three players have been playing for quite a while now, have good records, and were remorseful for their actions, so the suspension time was reduced accordingly

This article from the IRB site has links to the actual hearing reports http://www.irb.com/pacificnationscu...ml#pacific+nations+cup+disciplinary+decisions
