Byrne to Clermont

He needs something to rejuvenate his game, Ospreys seem to be treading water.

I think the Hairsprays are going to have a tough few seasons losing Hook and Byrne, despite not being on forum he is a great player when he is.

I don't think they are going to find it tough in the long run, they have an abundance of talent there and losing these sorts of players gives the likes of Tom Prydie, Kristian Phillips and Mathew Morgan a go to see if they are good enough at this level.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind being a bit crap for a couple of years if it means bringing youth forward and actually turning us into a TEAM.
I guess it'll also aid the coffers... As long as this Muliaina rumour isn't true. Not that I'd turn him down!! :p

Good move for everyone involved. Byrne get's a chance to kickstart his career, and where better for a fullback than France! He also get's a bumper pay packet for his last few years of his career. Ospreys are getting compensation for him leaving early, and are loosing a player that has barely played for them this season due to injury and has been off- form for some time. It gives the likes of Prydie a chance to finally get steady gametime (or Barry Davies!) which means the Welsh team will benefit from increased depth in a position we have none (unless Muliaina is signed).

If the Scarlets use the money freed up by King leaving to invest in a prop or a hard nosed second row then overall the team will be alot more balanced because opf it. There's no point in them having amazing backs when they get smashed up front against half the teams they come up against. Jon Davies has improved massively over the last two seasons and whilst a King-Davies centre partnership is much more exciting than a Maul-Davies one, it's still proved to be quite effective in the absense of King.
