British and Irish Lions squad based on this year's six nations.

Don't know if it would be a 'wild card' choice but I think Itoje will be in the squad. Then our young tighthead Alo or something similar but he's a big unit at 120kg already aged 21.

Itoje will be a star of game. Just wonder how soon. Have been very impressed by him. But is 2nd row the hardest area to break through for ye at moment in England

My team.

Healy good in tight and loose
Hartley excellent lineout man
Cole see Healy
AW Jones brings leadership also
POC captain
POM world class player now which is plain to see
SOB a fully fit SOB. Adds an attacking dimension.
Morgan unlucky with injuries. Billy V close second
Murray/Young's depending on tactics
Sexton/Ford. Ford looked very good in the 6 nations so its tight call
North hard man to stop
Henshaw. Many strings to his bow.
Jon Davies. More solid than Joseph
Bows. Runs good lines, very smart and experienced.
Halfpenny. Let him take the kicks. Hogg and Brown unlucky.

4 Welsh
6-8 Irish
0 Scots (I would have Ritchie Gray and Hogg on bench though)
3-5 English.

I'm happy enough with the forwards. An argument could be made that Henshaw lacks experience and Bowe is getting on a bit, which would be fair enough.

Jon Davies more solid than Joseph? I beg to differ. JJ has fine defense and I'd take his attacking ability over JDs.

I think the old sarcasm detector needs some fine tuning buddy!

Neither are world class but both would be on my Lions XV, PO'M because he's the best 6 of the four nations and Heaslip because of his experience and the fact he seems to thrive in a Lions set up.

Gimme a break, its perfectly believable BG8 is stupid enough to believe that :p

Genuine question, why is Strettle so funny? Aside from the fact he hasn't played international rugby for ages, he has all the necessary attributes and on his Sarries form would warrant a spot.

Because in all of his recent international appearances he simply hasn't looked at the standard required and at his age, there's no point holding out for improvement.

Plus, take him out of the flat-track bully side which is Sarracens RFC and he wouldn't be much use.

I'd love to see Pennell at a club like sarracens and wee how good he looks there...

The same 'flat-track bully side' who last year got to the Heineken cup final (thrashing Clermont 46-6 on the way) and only lost 3 games in the regular AP season?

Yeah, that one.

In fairness it's not a term that is apt for Saracens. A 'flat track bully' wouldn't qualify from a pool involving sides 2nd in the Top 14 and Pro12 with a resounding victory 33-10 in Barnet, or reach a European final delivering one of Europe's top sides their worst defeat in memory.

Yeah Munster did for a long time, as did the Tigers of old.

Saracens are a Flat track bully side but in my books that isn't meant to be an insult. They bully sides with their forwards first and foremost.

Thank you. I'm not trying to claim we're the best side in Europe, but everyone seems to despise Sarries for no apparent reason, we're still a good side.

You seem to be under the false impression that 'flat track bully' is a rugby term that means to dominate opponents up front.

I thought it was a cricket term for teams with a pedestrian bowling attack but dominate with the bat...

Saracens are a well-drilled outfit, who are greater than the sum of their parts. They have lots of good players who can produce quality enough to do well at club level, but there's a near universal lack of top class international talent. (e.g. Barritt's attacking limitations are far more limiting at international level than at club level.) The only English player that is well worth their place in the England squad is Billy Vunipola (still not quite as good as Morgan though). Mako could get there if he brings his scrummaging on, and Kruis is alright but well behind some of the other locks England have. Everyone has big hopes on Itoje though. Likewise, George could be a good option sooner or later. But other than these, the rest have limitations that make them uninspiring choices for England.

Would love the see that, depends on the coach I suppose we will get Mr Potato head again.
