The whole sport is a joke now. and is basically dead.
A big part of it is that there are too many federations trying to be bigtime, and thus you don't always (most of the time I would gather) get the best fighters fighting due to this. Another problem is that most of them are under rival promoters, unwilling to book fights against each other.
So if you don't have good fights because of this, then it just diminishes the sport.
Just look at Fedor in MMA - his management was unwilling to budge on any reasonable agreements with the UFC due to them ovarvaluing their fighter . Then he loses 3 in a row, loses the mystique, and now they're too proud to talk to the UFC again!
Not accepting fights. and ducking people due to pride isn't good for anybody in the fight business.
Thanks to the middle weights. They do get big sell outs with made up hype but the PPV are not as often as in the past. The fact that they can still get huge pay per view numbers suggests otherwise. People have been saying boxing is dead for ages despite the viewership interest not going anywhere.

Hopefully Chisora knocks Haye out - While Chisora is a ********, he's kind of like a pantomime villain in how ludicrous he is. Haye is just a twat.
You've got it the wrong way round there Olyy, Chisora is the bigger ********, he's slapped and pushed other boxers in the face at weigh ins, spat at, and bitten the ear of a boxer in the ring, and outside the ring got arrested for assaulting his girlfriend, and assaulting a police officer and possession of an offensive weapon, and also just from general interviews Chisora seems a bit thick, stupid and inarticulate.
Haye is just acting to try and make more money, as he has previously said, and happened to make himself look stupid in losing given what he had said. But at least he hasn't all that history, and has actually been an undisputed cruiserweight and also heavyweight champion.
What, even Apollo Creed?
No matter what. The promoters still fill seats and swindle the people out of their money. Boxing dead or not thats what makes a good promoter. Don King use to be brilliant at it. But if your running low on boxers you need to create one. Pac although looking that way knows he is getting a big pay day again for the rematch and will get more as the guy who beat him. Boxing has been like this for ages. Just that the performances was a bit better to make the judges calls look fair. But all those times you heard some guy got robbed especially in Mexico or in the US they have a case cause they probably were but both boxers was too awful in their performances. The Pac vs Mayweather match would have probably taken place if Mayweather wasn't bothered about taking a loss on his record. As a sport it's dead. PPV is not that amazing considering Mayweather and Pacman are still active (two all time greats). The main point is, boxing is not currently sustainable. When those guys leave, there's no one left. Why? Because of it's corruption, and ridiculous fragmentation. Not to mention that whenever two guys clinch in Boxing, it usually means a cop-out/hide from action time. In MMA, there's nowhere to hide, and 95% of fights are forced into action (save for fights whjich include fighters with a bad weight cut and/or cardio issues).
In Rocky 1 and 2 yes
Don't be silly ..I know more about Boxing than you ever will I've seen all the Rocky films ffs...A lot of the comments in this thread are completely retarded, while some are fairly insightful. If you dont have decent clue about a sport you really shouldn't try to have a serious discussion about it.
Ive been a hardcore fan of boxing for years, im one of those guys that gets up at 4 am to watch American boxing cards and I follow the sport very closely. While there are significant problems, such as corruption, the use of steroids, fights being cancelled and some bad publicity for boxing, its not in as bad a shape as some of you make out, and there are plenty of things to like about boxing. At its best its one Theres nothing better than watching a great fight imo, even an excellent rugby match cant get the blood pumping like it.
