CARDIFF Blues are trying to sign Wasps fly-half Dave Walder â€" with Nicky Robinson’s future at the Arms Park uncertain.

The Blues have moved for 30-year-old Walder, out of contract at the end of this season at the English club, as they try to bolster their squad for the move to Cardiff City’s new stadium next season.[/b]

Following on from the news that James Haskell could be on his way to the Ospreys (the Guardian and Telegraph have also picked up the story), another Wasps player could be on his way to the Magners League. He's far from a star but would be a very capable backup and competent starter if needs be.

"The Blues have moved for 30-year-old Walder"

*sigh*
Does the word 'youth' not exist in the Blues' vocabulary? (Why do I feel like I'm repeating myself? - Ah yes: Ceri Sweeney!)

Couldnt agree more.

If Nick Robinson has to move and then Im more than happy for Dai Flanigan to take over the post. He played for Cardiff Blues last season in the win over Stade Francais in the HC. he had an excellent 3 games in the HC but ended up being benched. Until recntly I would have packed NR's suitcase for him.

I really dont want to sign another old timer whos about to be past his best. Walder is not the answer!

We need cooper next season. Id settle for him and NR.

I do indeed. Sorry I wrote this in a rush. I was referring to Cardiff's bigger problem at scrum half, where we desperately need cooper or a decent number 9.

Preferably, I would prefer nick robinson and dai flannagan in the ten position, as they are welsh, and dai showed alot of promise for the future.

yeah, Walder is definitly not the answer, Nick Robinson is a very good fly half when on form, and he is at the moment. But if he does move, would be a lot better if Flannagen steps up to be first choice.
As for scrum half, am not really a big fan of Gareth Cooper, even if he did play well in the AI's, I still would pick Phillips and Peel over him.
But, Andy Williams has just been released from the Dragons (for unkown reasons) and says he wants to stay in Wales. He said that the Blues and Scarlets are the two regions he'd aim for pretty much. He would be a decent Welsh signing for the Blues, and tbf, they badly need to get rid of Spice who's simply not that good.
