Bias England commentary

He blatantly is though?

If he keeps up this form yes. At the moment no, because Pocock and McCaw have proven themself time and time again at the highest level, Warburton is one hell of a player though and could easily be there in a year or so. Why do people keep forgetting Brussow though? The guy is awesome.

Got to like Brian Moore :p.

I am not sure. I am sitting on the fence on this :) He is defo getting better and at the moment is superb. If he can keep at that level then maybe. Time will tell I guess.

Personally I think Vickery keeps his bias under check well apart from in the really tense moments such as when Youngs scored our only try against Argentina. His main problem is just that for sentences at a time he manages to say nothing at all. He's just a less articulate David Gower - who actually manages to talk for minutes at a time without making any progress whatsoever. I don't think the bias thing is even worth talking about, agree completely with Bull, Jonathan Davies is an irritating little man(?) who is the most biased of all. I bang on about it but he'll pretty much be silent for ages until Wales get the ball when he explodes with excitement. And as people have mentioned, Fox sport is more than a little ridiculous. In the NH our commentators are biased because that's the direction they've been prodded in - the largest portion of ITV viewers are English after all - but at least they still have a knowledge and respect of Southern hemisphere rugby, for example. Whereas I would say, not meaning to criticise, that SH commentators tend not to know many NH players. (we're not that bad guys!)I'd say the main problem with our commentators in general is that they tend to not be that interesting or have that much rugby knowledge.

I've heard Brian Moore described as Biased but to be fair he's just a bitter man who is happy to see England to badly as long as it proves him right about something (usually just that england are ****)

Stuart Barnes Is annoying and overly insistent about certain points and the strength of certain players but I don't mind listening to him, he does understand rugby (i think)

The guy I think is amazing is Dean Ryan when he's doing analysis. I literally hang onto his every word. He knows so much and points out interesting things I would never ever notice

Is it only the Welsh who find Jonathan Davies brilliant? How can you not love someone who comes out with gems like these...

"BANG, SIT DOWN!"

"Oh god, he's got hands like feet"

Other commentator: "He's been given a yellow card. On his birthday too."
JD: "Well, he's got ten minutes to read his cards on the bench."

Its interesting that those from the bias commentators nation do not seem to notice that the commentators have been bias. :)

Theres one commentator I am really glad hasn't been on any of the broadcasts so far and that is Andy Nichols. He drives me up the wall. Scotland are still going to win the world cup according to him. And he'd have told you that during a New Zealand Vs Tonga encounter.

I like Jiffy too!

"Gotta go left...numbers left, there's a try on! LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT....awww he's gone right"

FINALLY!! Someone who recognises Nichols for what he is. He's horrible, I hate him, really HATE HIM! :p

As a Wales fan, I would admit Jonathan Davies is biased to Wales and criticizes most decisions against them, but if you keep him away from Wales matches he's a good commentator

And yes, I agree Andy Nicol isn't great

Andrew Cotter and Jonathan Davies are painful.
Jiffy is much better when he covers RL.

RTE commentators are pretty woeful its not so much bias as no knowledge of rugby

Christ yeah. Some truly awful stuff.

Listening to Fitzgerald struggle to spot the reason for an obvious penalty on Setanta is seriously painful too. I'm tending to go for the ITV commentary when its available, but I'm tempted to just turn on the ARC online instead.

The worst TV bias - going on for years - is in Scotland matches.

Wish Scotland the best, great tradition (pathetic crowds), good for international rugby, but there's so much whining from Gregor Towsend - oooh the ref this and that - but they just can't score tries.

MTFU!

I remember Rob Andrew screaming his head off in the 2003 final. That is now classic TV.

I think all the ITV pundits want there home teams to do well. Fitzpatrick, Pienaar and co are always going to root for there home nation. Why would Vickery be any different.
If you want bias have a watch of scrum V on BBC one Wales they are welsh biased and quite right to be so.

As a player I like Vickery, he is not great in the talking department.

The problem with ITV is they have to make it rugby lite for the wider viewing public, who only watch the game every four years. Don't get me started on those stupid touch T.V's

To be honest I prefer the BBC, Brian Moore and Keith Wood crack me up. I accept lots of people hate Moore as well.

Gotta say, I think Brian Moore is one of the best commentators there is- he tells it like it is and isn't afraid to rip into English players as well. That said, I think rugby on ITV is dire compared to Aunty Beeb

As much as I detest the commentary on ITV for rugby and football, Phil Vickery is a former England rugby union player and you can't blame him for showing passion. I'm a budding young journalist and I write reports for my local football club and I tell you what I can't contain my celebrations. Not that I can't come up with a fair report.

You know when someone wearing headphones talks to you they always talk louder than normal?

Thats what Vickery does

I'd like to give some praise to the ITV commentators (as opposed to the pundits) who, during the pool games managed to do a pretty good job of knowing the names of the Japanese, Fijians, Georgians, Rumanians, Samoans, Russians, Canadians ... and all of the rest. They had done some serious homework and so here's a big Thank You to Messrs Symonds, Gillingham, Mullins and Ward. Mullins is coming up with some colourful turns of phrase - not as good as dear old BMcC (RIP), of course, but trying hard (and with some success) to be of a similar vein.

As for some of the pundits ... during several seasons of Six Nations series Jonathan Davies has persisted in calling the French number 8 Harry Donachie. Will he keep this up during the RWC?

I agree with all of this apart from Mullins, he kept mixing up Clerc and Palisson in the England vs France semi final, and then did the same thing several times on the lesser known Argentina players the following day

Jonathan Davies has called Harinordoquy "Harry Donachie" ever since he started playing LOL
