By the time anyone reads this they'll have probably released the squad anyway but there we go, here's squad news to the best of my understanding...
On international duty: Ferris, Court, Wallace, Trimble, Pienaar, Brady (???)
Injured: Best, Diack, Fitzpatrick, Macklin
Waiting on fitness: Cave (hoped for), Muller (v. unlikely)
Not a great list, but on the plus side Treviso should be missing about 10 or so players!

Paddy Wallace has been released to Ulster so it appears Gordon D'arcy is fit for Ireland. No sign of Stonehands Trimble so he's probably in the Ireland squad.
Good to see Craig Gilroy keep his place. Great to see Darren Cave back- in my opinion he vies with Willie Faloon for the title of Ireland's most underrated player.

I can only agree with all of this (well, laugh mainly at Trimble's nickname... aye, I rate Trimble, but wouldn't swap him for Gilroy after that performance). I think we've missed Darren Cave massively, I don't think its a coincidence that our winless streak coincided with his injury. As for Faloon, if he was 2 inches taller and a stone heavier he'd be Ireland's next openside no question. Still think he might be.
Intrigued to see The Full Seventy out in favour of McComb...

It looks like Ulster screwed up in keeping Caldwell instead of Ed O'Donoghue when both their contracts expired. O'Donoghue isn't exactly setting the world alight for Leinster but he'd a solid squad player which is more than can be said of Caldwell at present.
Plenty said it at the time. Caldwell had been playing very well at the start of the season though and really should have left Barker and Tuohy squabbling over the bench place. But either he's got a knock, or has blotted his copy book in private - or Who just prefers the others, he's made plenty of eccentric decisions and this wouldn't be the most of them as Barker's been playing very well and Tuohy obviously is a great talent. Apparently he was pants in his last game for Dungannon though.
Which is why I'm curious. As things stand though, Caldwell's 4th choice and I reckon EOD would have been too - no great loss either way...
Barker has been on top form though lads. Wallace is a massive boost and Peat I agree Trimble or Wallace, Ulster wouldve picked Wallace as he will have a bigger influence and it a big game for Ulster to get confidence back up

It came from a iHump kick into the dead ball area. Gilroy has just scored his 2nd of the game, again from a cross kick. He now has more tries in 2 games for Ulster than the *cough* magnificent *cough* Ian Dowling has in his last 2 seasons for Munster.

Was quiet a boring game, watched it in the pub yesterday.
Ulster slugged it out well. they defended well and played well in the condtions. The TMO was awful and his decision on D'arcys try was one of if nt the worst decision from a TMO i've ever seen. Disapointed with Treviso they were very flat and didn't really pose any real threat even if they had more possession.
In fairness Dowling has been injured alot, but on the match well Trimble is with Ireland and what do you know Ulster benefit from it.
