The Fiji Rugby Union has today announced the appointment of Ben Ryan as the new Digicel Fiji 7s Head Coach.
Ryan accepted the offer after the FRU board contacted him last night.
There will be a transition period of one month in England for Ryan and he is expected to be in the country for the Fiji Water Centennial International 7s next month. Ryan will also take the team for the first leg of the 2013/2014IRB World 7s Series at the Gold Coast in Australia.
Ryan will return to England after the Gold Coast 7s and move back to Fiji with his family before the Dubai 7s.
During his appointment Ryan will be required to develop local coaches and the game in the 7s code throughout the country.
His appointment is for three years and will be till the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Also appointed last night were three team managers for the Fiji 7s team. Former Nadroga Manager, Paula Biu,Koro Manager, Ropate Kauvesi and Macuata Manager Isei Rayawa accepted the appointments and will work on a rotational basis.
The Fiji Rugby Union has decided on a pool of managers that will be rotated during each leg of the IRB World 7sSeries, and their progress will depend on their performance.
The FRU Board has taken a new approach in appointing the team managers as they would like to encourage proven provincial team managers the opportunity to manage National teams.

BEN Ryan wants to make Fiji 7s the best team in the world. But he admits it will take time to achieve this goal.The former England 7s coach, who was announced the new Digicel Fiji 7s mentor for the next three years, is expected to be in the country next week.
Ryan, after serving for England over the past six years where he enjoyed a mixed result, is looking for success with the Fiji 7s team.
In an interview with the ESPN, Ryan said he would be doing things the Fijian way to achieve the desired goals.
"I'm not intending to do things the English way, it will be the Fijian way," he said.
"I'm going to have to adapt as much as they are. That's just one of the things you have to do as a coach.
"It's another good challenge for me and certainly I imagine there will be some hard times ahead but that's what you put your name on the dotted line for.
"I'm wearing a different white shirt now and I'm going to do everything I can to make Fiji the best team in the world."
Ryan's first official task with the Fiji Rugby Union will be guiding the national team in the opening leg of the 2013/14 HSBC Sevens World Series.
The new IRB 7s season begins in the Gold Coast, Australia on October 12.
Ryan knows he will have a limited time to put together a team for the opening leg.
"There is a bit of nervousness about it but as a coach, all you really want is the best talent available and in Fiji, that's what they've got," he said.
"I tend to try and do everything I can to help them. I'll be lucky if I have more than a couple of training sessions before the Gold Coast so everyone has to be a little bit patient before they start to see the gains I'm going to give them."
FRU, while announcing Ryan's appointment, also said the 42-year-old would be in charge of developing the 7s rugby in the country.
Ryan, who revolutionised 7s rugby in England during his time with the Rugby Football Union, is looking forward to this challenge as well.
"One of the attractions of bringing me in was to help develop a legacy like I've done in England. While in England coaching the coaches is well done, it has not really happened in Fiji.
"One aspect of my role will be to do that so we get some class operators who can one day take over from me when I move on.
"And on the playing front, we have all seen what happens when they hit their straps like they did in Hong Kong and on the Gold Coast I'm just going to try to bring some consistent performance levels to the Fijian guys.
"I'll be slowly changing a few things, but only a few things and I will stick with the way the Fijians play the game."
