Australia vs England (2nd Test) - 09/07/22

Didn't say anything about him being awful. Just said he needs to do more than kick.

He 100% won't be a long term FB option if he doesn't offer more than he's shown so far in his England caps, as someone else will come along who offers more than the basics.

As I said, it may be an instruction though.
Previous incumbents didn't even offer the basics though.

TBF how long has it taken for England to have. 15 that does the basics well that wasn't Brown?

First time this season I feel england has seen forward progress

Debuts
JVP looked good till he tired

Porter hasn't done anything really, potential squad option but not going to trouble Slade or Marchant. Would like to see Dingwall play

Freeman alright another potential squad option but never really got much of a chance to show what he can do.

Was good to see Heyes get more than 2 minutes made a brain fart with one ruck but good in defence and good in scrum.

Nowell and Vunipola showing their best form again is big

Really thought England had pressed the seal destruct button in the second half.

I reckon Australia lost that rather than England winning it albeit an improved England performance from the previous week. Lot of the same old systemic warning signs throughout that but some individuals like Billy V finding their feet again. No disrespect but Australia were pretty awful, especially during that first 30 and I'm not sure what's caused it, hubris? Unlucky with injuries too, wishing speedy recoveries for all.

Definitely better and we'll take the win.

But made heavy weather of it after being 19-0.

Attack is still pretty unconvincing. Try scoring ended in the 5th minute and we seldom really looked like adding. Smith looks a bit out of nick and has done for a little while.

Good example of how keeping the scoreboard ticking over still matters.

To our Aussie posters, is there a general move towards integrating traditional Aussie tribal languages and cultures in the country or is it more of a rugby thing?

Definitely an improvement on last week - individual performances much better,
Lawes in great form and Binny is getting back to his best
EJs actual use of the bench probably won the game - fresh legs helped stop the Aussie fight back when they looked like they were well on their way

Big win, particularly when you consider the inexperienceof that back line. Unlike last week took those early chances. Really seemed to be on top physically and seemed to change the game plan.

Smith was very poor. Targeted defensively and jumped out the line more than once leaving the rest to scramble.

That was a powerful Australian side, on paper at least.

Barring in mind the number of Aussie injuries definitely not a convincing win. Take it as confidence and momentum always help, but this England team still don't look like they are on the same wavelength. Individual performances were better, overall team performance still poor.

Enlgand had their own own issues to contend with too, Itoje, Underhill, Willis before the game.

I thought the young lads that came in acquitted themselves well, was impressed by JVP.

He did well. For all the talk about 10/12 it's the SH who sets the tempo, decisiveness and a quick, accurate service opens up the opportunities for others.

I expect JVP will start next week. A word for Care though I thought last week he was often left to dig the ball out of the ruck with the forwards failing to provide a platform for quick ball.

This is exactly the mediocre win scraping performance that will and has allowed EJ to stay.
I think that is a little harsh, we wernt perfect and we let them back into the game but i think the prefermance was much improved from last week and actually had some shape. We played a territory game well early on pinning them back and capitalised.

We didnt keep it up for the 80 and let them back in, im not saying it was a perfect performance but alot of individuals stepped up.

We shouldnt be at this point but we are still in a rebuild and this is still real progress. This doesnt redeem EJ for all the crap hes put this team but it does show the team is going in the right direction.

Next week we will be without Itoje Curry Willis(maybe) Underhill got injured too right?
