Anyone else think things need to change from the ground up?

Clearly the way things are going England will never be a match for the elite 3 in anything other than sporadic bursts.

So what needs to be done to change this? I think Rugby needs an overhaul in England from the grass roots level upwards., basically what they promised us after '03.

It has to be much more than that.

Getting kids playing rugby in schools might help.

something needs to be done, its the same old thing over and over and over again, lose to all the good teams, then beat one average team and act like there has been progress made when there is none.

Rugby is played a fair bit in schools :S
At least, it was played in all schools in the area i went to school in. More than football was, in most
I agree that we aren't as good as we used to be, we need to bring in more forwards, really, Johnson is just picking the old boys, which may work atm, but what happens when they retire in the coming years? We may have Hartley coming through, for the front 3, but not much else

I went to 3 seperate senior schools, as i moved around a lot, one in kent, one in lincoln and one in nottingham and never played rugby once.

It was 90% of the time football and 10% of "useless sports" like hockey and rounders and stuff like that.

I even took P.E as a gcse option and never once played rugby.

That's crazy, we had it compulsory up until y10 (as in, half the year was rugby, the other half was football/athletics/other summer based sports), then for 10/11, you could play if you wanted, but it was only compulsory for the 1st XV, the rest could do a different sport if they wanted

Lol none of the schools i went to had a first 11.

I always wanted to play rugby, I hated football, thought it was boring. A bunch of us even did a petition in nottingham but nothing came of it. I know thats only 3 schools but still thats what, 100 potential players a year they are missing out on.
