So, final week of my first year of postgraduate study, and I've left everything till the last minute as always (Not that I haven't been working my ass off, just obviously not hard enough!).

I've got my dissertation hand-in tomorrow, and I've only written half of it, with almost 4,000 words to write tonight. That then leaves me four days to complete my portfolio for my studio work. I'm already sleep deprived and close to meltdown as it is. This is pure hell at the moment.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Get off the forum you fool! I'll change my 'NH member of the year' nomination if you don't get to work.

Few weeks back I had numerous projects/presentations. I had three exams, three papers, and two presentations over one week, with another presentation the week after. It wasn't inherently difficult, just time consuming. I bloody hate citations. Printed over a hundred pages worth of sources.

What is your dissertation on, can I ask? If it is the Welsh tour to Australia, then you are in the right place.

Haha, I know. I'm still working, but sometimes need a 5 min break where I check back here for updates.

This dissertation will offer an assessment of the possible ways in which virtual reality will impact our everyday lives, and ultimately the changes it may have on the way architecture is designed, viewed, and used.

There's my quick aim. Proving to be difficult, should have set myself something a little more straight forward. Does mean I get to use the films: The Lawnmower Man, The Matrix and Inception as sources.

I suddenly feel better about now studying this year and only deciding to do my course next year. Luckily still it's only going to be MCPD. Shouldn't be too much work... I hope.

What's your post grad in Dull? My is in his first year of some transport management PHD and seems to be mildly enjoying it.

Anyway, I just finished up second year exams, they nearly killed me. I made this fancy sig for them, but never got round to using it:

Nice, non?

Yep, understand bru. That is certainly much more creative than my papers.
Seen Minority Report? I think there was a part in it where they showed a VR arcade or something, where people could fulfill any fantasy. Depending upon the extent of virtual reality in our lives, it could indeed allow for things such as that. With regards to architecture, I have no clue. Wish I was able to help. Didn't like the Matrix series. First one wasn't bad but the last two just dragged on.

Without wishing to make you feel bad......I had my last exam today

Uni and I was a doomed relationship even if I hadn't failed I probably would have left anyway. Don't think I'd have kept up with the work, was never the most academic person (ie. thick) Still, I enjoyed it and don't regret going. Hope you get it all done in time Dull.

I'm doing a Masters degree in architecture. It's fun when the workload isn't close to unbearable, which it's rarely not been this year.

Yeh, I had thought to include Minority report, which I took as an excuse to watch it again a few months back. That one scene you mention could fit in quite well to what I'm talking about in one chapter, so I may cram that in to add a couple of hundred words.

Damn you. Wish I was finished now. I seriously need a break. Unfortunately I need to hunt for a summer job so I can pay rent :(.

That's what happened for me the first time. Too much weed, too little work = failure.

With me it was more a case of Disagreeing with "lecturers" + the subsequent decision to boycott said moron's lectures = not knowing what the heck the exam meant and the following fail.

Yeah, idiot professors are a massive detriment to schooling. I, fortunately, have really liked mine thus far. Quite a few ex-service lads, who always have a story to keep the class interested.

That's the joys of the physical sciences, even if the lecturers are idiots, they're almost definitely right. Also, all the material is onlie somewhere.

I have heard that architecture has the highest workload of any subject (including medicine/vet medicine) - I don't envy you Dull!

Just so everyone knows. I'm eating my dinner, so I'm having a 15min break whilst doing so, so please don't shout at me for commenting in the Leinster v Ospreys thread.

... don't I shout at you for commenting anyway?

One of my cousins did architecture, or something along those lines. His job now boils down to cycling around London taking photos of buildings. The *******.

I decided to use the siggy anyway, because it's so sexy out.

From someone who was up until 3am editing the morning my dissertation was due I wish you all the best Dull!!

Aye, I printed mine at a similar time - never seen so many people off my course in one place as I did in that computer room then

I think scientists should stop wasting valuable resources trying to cure cancer and focus on more important issues, like keeping me from drooling in my sleep.

Man, if I was done by 3am I'd be over the moon. I'm probably gonna be printing around the 10 o'clock mark tomorrow morning, rushing to the binders, before getting it in before the deadline of 12am, or is it 2pm....

I can't see me making the full 8,000 word count. Not the best, because that was easily achievable if I hadn't of put it off for so long. It does get difficult when studio projects take up so much of my time, but it was also the fact that I bloody hate writing essays!
