Okay some politics fap material for those of left leaning persuasion.

EDIT: My computer decided to paste our Jira link....

Would be good to see his reply to the question.

My read is that this is all on Corbyn being an ideologue and reasonably narcissistic. He couldn't bring himself to be politic.
The report doesn't seem to have been all that damning to him personally, and gave him a reasonable amount of credit (I'm told by neutrals who've read it - I personally can't be arsed). Starmer refused to condemn him, and generally avoided criticism. Starmer has already gone on record saying that he won't tolerate any down-playing of anti-semitism, and has already reinforced that message with RLB.

Corbyn could have accepted the findings of the report. He could have highlighted the positives that it said about him and his leadership. He could have said that we're dealing with an institutionalised problem, and are moving in the right direction, but it's not job done.
But no, he couldn't bring himself to feel slighted, and he'd rather fall on his sword than do so. He forced Starmer's hand.

I really hope this doesn't split the party - if there's ever been a time when we needed a strong opposition, this is it (and the last 5 years TBH, but no point crying over spilt milk).
I am very confident that the tories will find another 30 ways to shat the bed, and remove the media spotlight from Corbyn within the next week. I am not remotely confident that it actually will remove the media spotlight.

TBH this is why I will always resent Corbyn, especially in 17-19, where the government had a wafer thin majority he refused to show any real leadership on the most pressing matter this country was facing. He almost seamed to resent it being a topic at all rather than engage with it.

As to himself hes no longer leader, was quite resolutely rejected by the electorate, this was the time to back to the backbenches and snipe like he use to (he was/is a good backbench MP) but on this he just needed to show humility.

Seems like labour are done shooting themselves in the foot and are now gunning away at the blasted little stumps they have left. Typical left wing splintering and idealism rather than pragmatism. So if labour split that is the left wing vote split between 4 parties to the right wing 1 party... Idiots just don't learn, in our system the more you split, the less likely you are to ever win.

First bits of information on how yesterday went down with public at large, really interesting stats on good/bad leader among Labour voters.

Feel like anything along those lines has to be taken with a huge pinch of salt, especially as most people don't seem to know what he was actually suspended for - everyone is saying he's been suspended for anti-Semitism not for going against the party rules

You could ask the general public if Corbyn was in the Hitler youth and throws puppies off of bridges for fun and the majority would say yes

I dunno why it has to be taken with a pinch of salt its a reflection of the mood of the action not for actually understanding the 'complexities' (its not complicated it really isn't that hard to read) behind it.

But yes a lot of people belive a lot of lies about Corbyn he was overly villified by the right-wing (which comprises most of our written press) and was one step to a deification by the left-wing.

Although I do have to say my twitter feed is mostly center-left and all I really see is Corbyn supporters spreading that mistruth, specifically a screen grab of a point 10 of the report saying its okay critisise the actions of the Israeli governement as that is not anti-semetic, so what Corbyn did was okay (I'm not even sure if Corbyn mentioned Israel in his statement). The other one is Labour/Starmer haven't said why they've suspended him, when they have. Israel is a sticky subject and the only sound advise I've ever heard is to be very specific in criticisms because a lot of the time its dog whistles or whataboutary to deflect from actual anti-semitism (IF someone starts baging on about Zionism it a good indcator).

Should say I find anti-semitism in general a bit baffling, I wasn't bought up particular Christian despite going to Sunday school in a fairly liberal household. We also didn't have a large Jewish community where I grew up if at all according to this there was none (https://www.jewishgen.org/jcr-uk/england_geographic.htm). So whilst I experienced homphobia directly (despite not being gay, some kids decided I was) and have witness racisism, With Islamphobia most of that came about post 9/11 when I was young adult and understood what bought it about. But yeah on this topic its like I learnt about the holocaust and head about deniers but never really though of it as widespread as it is.

80 plus Million voted already. CBS predicting voting on course for approximately 150 million come voting day. That would be a big jump since 2016 when 129m voted. But of course, it's where they vote which counts.

Well they managed it....never underestimate how royally this government can duck things up.

Stuck this in political rather than COVID. Not sure which is more reverent but it is intriguing this wasn't deliberately leaked (like everything else). They probably wanted the Corbyn story to run a few more days.

Very interesting because it limits who could have spread the info.

I call bullocks on that.
Has this government done anything at all that wasn't deliberately leaked a couple of days beforehand to judge public reaction?

Texas Republicans have asked a federal judge to throw out 100,000 ballots in Harris County cast through curbside voting. They drew Judge Andrew Hanen, one of the most notoriously partisan Republican judges in the entire federal judiciary. This is alarming. https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/20401146/sd-tex-20-cv-03709.pdf

Judge Hanen has already scheduled an emergency hearing for Monday morning—without even giving Harris County a chance to file a response brief. This, too, is extremely concerning. It looks like he may be rushing to throw out 100,000 disproportionately Democratic votes.

Texas Republicans are deploying the theory—recently endorsed by Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh—that only state legislatures have authority over elections. Because the Harris County Clerk implemented drive-through voting, Republicans say all 100,000 ballots must be tossed.

Two partisan federal judges are already trying to nullify thousands of Minnesota ballots under this radical theory. I am deeply concerned that Judge Hanen, too, will use it to disenfranchise 100,000 Texans on the eve of Election Day. This is frightening.

Biden campaign says bus was nearly forced off road

Trucks with Trump signs and flags surrounded a Biden campaign bus on a Texas highway on Friday and attempted to slow the vehicle down and run it off the road, the Biden campaign said on Saturday.
Several video clips posted on social media by both Biden and Trump supporters showed the trucks surrounding the bus. The trucks then tried to slow the bus down and run it off the road before staff called 911, according to the Biden campaign.
The president himself appeared to endorse the behavior of his supporters, tweeting a video of the incident on Saturday evening along with the comment "I LOVE TEXAS!"
"They're literally escorting him out of town," one man says, laughing as he narrates one clip of the incident shared by Trump supporters.

Some of the Trump supporters surrounding the Biden campaign bus were armed, according to Democratic state representative Rafael Anchía and other observers.

Only a few more days left of the US election.
Been keeping tabs on the election news on Twitch (I know).
But some of the viewing figures twitch is getting on the election is pretty impressive. People getting 100'000 viewers for the debates, AOC stream got 400K on it.

It's honestly an effective way to get the younger demographic more interested, and unlike youtube you don't have the algorithm pushing a "Owns libs" type video in the recommendations.
