A Political Thread pt. 2

I'd like to say thank you to those supported me above.

I am Asperger's sufferer and find myself unable to let go arguing sometimes. I do get very irritated by some of the WUMs here, not just in this thread, and have found myself going down a rabbit hole .

One person did DM me and asked why do I keep arguing with DH.

In the end I just decided not to interact with him directly or respond to his posts, even when I whole heartedly agree. I don't even 'like' anymore. I just hope he likes and feels victorious over someone who is autistic and has clearly got under his skin.

I am extremely analytical so I focus more on citable statements/facts.

I do make an effort not to be one sided in my posting, posting both left and right sources. If some people choose to call some sources comics then so be it, it isn't to others.

With regard to US news there almost no down the middle news sources, if you read say CNN and Fox you would be forgiven in thinking they were two different countries until an earthquake comes along.

I did find quite funny people saying only quote sources like the FT because they were the only ones who knew what they were talking about. Well, I'm a database architect/engineer and a data analyst. Finance journals on a day to day basis just aren't in my wheelhouse.

So 4D chess is the same as insider trading?

I agree the word “cronies” has a negative connotation but I don’t doubt your dislike of politicians as you see them as all the same.

Again, sorry if I misunderstood you general point. As I replied to you initially I got the impression that what he was doing was admirable in some way. Mainly because to me saying someone is playing 4D chess implies what someone is doing is beyond comprehension to most people and therefore admirable or worthy of respect but sounds like that’s not the point you were trying to make so fair enough. My bad.

It's a non issue, MAGA fans all use the term 4D chess when he does something noone can identify the logic to, I popped it on sarcastically, as its a pretty heavy insider trading looking move lol, but contextually I see where it looks like a compliment.

Its been hard work lately we've 2-3 WUM's and I'm struggling to tell the difference between genuinely held beliefs and wanting discuss those. And people just interested screaming how right they are and wrong other are with a lack of evidence (and a dismissal of sensible sources).

The ignore button isn't working well because its dominating the "discussion".

What's a WUM? Tried searching but couldn't find a meaning.

When the stock market tanked, Trump shrugged. When the bond market freaked out, he blinked

From CNN’s Christian Edwards

When trillions of dollars in value vanished from stock markets over Donald Trump’s tariffs, the president held firm, however when the bond market showed signs of trouble he made a swift reversal.

“MY POLICIES WILL NEVER CHANGE,” he said last week, as equities tanked. “BE COOL!” he said Wednesday morning, as they fell further — but hours later, he announced he was pausing his “reciprocal” tariffs for 90 days. Why?

The bond market was getting “queasy,” Trump told reporters later Wednesday.

Usually, when the stock market tanks, investors flee to the “safe haven” of Treasuries, causing their prices to rise and yields — or market interest rates — to fall. But late Tuesday into Wednesday, investors were selling stocks and Treasuries, causing price falls in both markets.

“When we see both the stock market and Treasuries have a negative price movement at the same time, this is very rare,” Kathy Yuan, professor of finance at the London School of Economics and Political Science, told CNN. The last time this “worrisome” development happened was during the Covid-19 shock of early 2020. “It cannot be ignored,” she said.

One reason for the Treasury selloff appears to have been a massive unwinding of the “basis trade,” where investors try to profit from the difference between the price of Treasuries and that of Treasury futures. The trade involves investors borrowing huge sums to buy Treasury bonds. The profit margins are small but repeated often enough as to be a huge cash cow for hedge funds.

But a more troubling reason may be that investors did not rush to buy Treasuries like in previous panics.

“When you damage your international relations, the international investors are going to be less likely to buy your assets — and we saw some of that yesterday,” John Canavan, the lead US analyst at Oxford Economics, told CNN.

Trump has now revealed a weak spot in his thinking, attack the US bond market, increase his borrowing costs.

Mate there's been no personal attacks on you, I made a flippant comment about you bombarding anti Trump posts from Daily Beast and Huffpost lol through the night.
Let's not compare them to CNN and Fox (although the latter has some merit lol) and your reframing of right and left, I havnt seen a single neutral link you've sent, let alone right wing links.

If you feel I'm out of order block me, but what I would say as someone probably similar to you, and ends up on rants and deep diving research to check the validity of things (no I'm not getting into specifics), sarcasm and intent is difficult to understand, I would add the context that everything I do and say is with a smile, and is meant in fun, I'm not screaming and ranting the end of the world.

Take some comfort in that jokes aren't meant at your expense, I'll be the same with everyone

I feel for you.
That's an internet and people here often feel free to write you disagreeable things that they would never dare to tell you in a real life (saying it in general).
If you think that someone, who starts to argue with you, is an idiot/troll, it's always better to ignore. As someone said "when you start to argue with an idiot, you yourself risk to become an idiot" :)

That's why I disengaged from him, I admit it took a while. Obviously I live rent free otherwise wouldn't have continued to attack me. ( A bit like a strumpet we know) 😜😜😜

Theres only one really. Chicago kid comes across as a very genuine person and I respect his opinion because it's different to mine which is fine. Yes he treats political discourse as a win at all costs type of thing but we all have egos around our beliefs so fine. Sour patch is just Chicago with a bit more sugar in him. Yulia is someone I disagree with but she is from a different country and background to me so she will be different in her mindset and if I'm being open I have probably at times been a bit disrespectful to her due to my prejudices towards her countries government @Yulia if that has happened I apologise, I greatly respect your opinion and the forum is a better place for you being on it.

Now DH is a bit different. To him this a bit of a game. He comes across as someone who wants to disagree with you just because he can and will see how hard he can push it and if he finds a particular target (Alldrums for instance) will double down on that poster and say some pretty troubling things knowing it's having an impact on that person. I don't believe anything he says regarding a political opinion because if it's just a game then who knows were he stands. I would bet a few quid that there is probably a more right leaning forum somewhere where he does the same thing but in reverse. This is about ego and behaviour. If he's arguing with you it's not because he thinks you're wrong it's because he wants to argue with you, notice nearly everything he claims he can't back up with links or news articles? He does this because..well he wants too. I go fishing in my spare time, he goes on forums and argued with people. It's his thing, one you realise this the easier it is to understand him. I have him on ignore but will occasionally have a look at a reply someone has posted but if you keep reacting to him (yes I know I have) then the more he will take over this part of the forum.

This was published about an hour ago, roughly one hour after the markets opened.

At time of posting the Dow Jones is down 1,500 points

It just shows how much Strumpet cheerleaders can't understand or won't accept reality.

Btw: for those who can't tell, it's from a right wing source.
