A Political Thread pt. 2

Well, first. I never understood why Scottish-Americans have the worst performance and lowest cognitive scores of all European immigrants, until I met some of you lot and realized all scots are practically geniuses comparatively.

Careful questioning the cognitive ability of Scottish Americans because Donald J Trump himself is half Scottish and at one point was technically more qualified to play rugby for Scotland than Duhan and Pierre 😉

I was once metres away from a bunch of Americans in Edinburgh on a tour, looking up towards the castle. One of them said "why would you build a castle up there when the rest of the city is down here"

Oooohh I can play this game...

I once had to explain to some American tourists that they wouldn't get to see fishes while chunnel...

On an Air Base in Turkey and me and the bloke I was with parked up and got out of the car and an American serviceman says "hey, you guys speak English?"

Bloke I was with replied "Yes, better than you do"

Oh we are playing that game okay…

If I had a dollar for every time a European tried to tell me they were going to"landing in New York, driving to Miami, and then driving to LA before flying home" I would have some decent change but nowhere near Bill Sweeney's performance bonus.

I spat my tea out hahahaha
Tickled me. Probably another article somewhere about What Did The Romans Ever Do For Us

I do think American's struggle with the concept of taking the **** as sense of humour. Like how "Alright **** face" can be a term of endearment for example

Oh we understand it, it's called "messing" or my preferred term "breaking balls".

But the language you use and the lack of a smile make it harder for us to know if you are joking or not.

Americans tends to be much, much more expressive than Europeans.

Travel to America is funny, I definitely think it's worth it and the cultural experiences are great but the interest fades quickly. I'd never go for a beach holiday and party holidays are mostly behind me I reckon. I think the culture shock was at it's greatest last time around. I had always found Americans very curious and friendly before, the curiosity seemed to have gone and the friendliness was more mannerly than genuine, Vancouver was the peak of that trip. Not really a criticism, tye people seemed a bit fed up which is jnderstandable given how volatile the country has been most of the last decade.

I've been to NYC x2, Chicago, Boston, Portland x2, Seattle, SF x2, Vegas and LA and went to Bandon Dunes for golf. I feel like I've got everything I want out of the city travel, although I'll likely head back to Chicago, NYC and Boston at least, enjoyed them all greatly and hoping the 2031 world cup will provide these opportunities. New Orleans does peak my interest but not really a place I ever feel like I have to go to and I'd love to see Springsteen in Jersey if that's ever possible (and likely the only thing that'll get me back there in the next few years, have other places I'd rather go that I've never visited).

Golf is probably what any other holiday I'll ever go over there for will be based around. Would love to get some South Carolina and Florida courses ticked of as well as going back to Bandon and hitting Pebble beach, Spyglass and maybe Torrey Pines.

I've been there 3 times since 2017 and twice before. I think those trips will likely account for more than half of the trips I take there in my lifetime and I really hope I'm not close to half way through my spin on earth yet!
