I had a little sympathy the first time Trump got elected and people who could claim they were duped. I have zero sympathy now, Trump IS representative of America now and America is basically full of a bunch of moronic, hateful, selfish fuckwits. We cannot simply hope to wait it out for 4 years, that huge segment of the populace are still there and will still vote for the next MAGA arsehole to replace Trump.

We have to recognise that the USA as a whole is no longer a trusted ally nor are it's people even fans of the basic aspects of democracy any more.

I kind of feel Frankie Boyle summed up these types of people. You see the choices they make, the horrific, hurtful, spiteful choices and you just have to wonder what in their life hurt them so much, they feel justified in their actions.

Out of curiosity how many Americans have either of you spoken with, especially those who voted for Trump? Actually, spoken with, not insulted and called names? It is interesting as it always is how the left (for a sweeping generality here) cry and **** and moan about tolerance but it is only one way. As soon as presented with views and beliefs that don't match their own, it tends to devolve into name calling without intelligent conversation.

Question the thousands of illegal aliens in America, you're xenophobic. Question the absurdity of parents saying they don't want their daughters competing or changing with boys, you're transphobic and the list goes on.

It's amusing, I'm a centralist and my opinions come both from the right and the left. I actually thought I was slightly right of centre, but then the world has gone mad recently, and I'm questioning myself.

Because posts like the one above are far and away from my opinions. I feel like that if you believe in proper facts, you are a so called leftie.

Social media will be the death of rational politics. Frustratingly the majority of people who are tolerant will be the ones that lose out.

The fact you refer to them as boys is by its very definition transphobic or denying the existence of trans people. Regardless of any merit of the argument about whether trans-women should be allowed is cis-women competition or safe spaces.

In one sentence you've let away your entire viewpoint and the fact you probably aren't going to listen to them like you claim lefties won't.

Think you were trying to quote me but it's gone wrong. Regardless, I wasn't insulting the American people, but how and what trump is doing in a broad sense. I do agree tolerance is needed and the lack of, has definitely took us down the road we're currently on. With that said, other things trump has said and done are not part of that.

On the trans thing, I will listen and be respectful, but I also know what is true and what isn't and won't pretend something that isn't true. A male can't be a female because he has a surgery or plays mad scientist with his hormones. No more than I can claim I am black because I "feel" black, wear certain clothes and style my hair a certain way. I am not a fan of Piers Morgan but he said something similar on a panel discussion and I thought he was very correct with that.
