A Political Thread pt. 2

In reality I know that it probably won't happen. But the idea of prices going up 25% and people finding a way to blame Biden is making me pre angry.
not be silly, all manufactures will immediately and instantly build factories in the US, hire local people for the same wage as those overseas and all will be right with the world.....

I worry the USA is rapidly in decline, the lunatics and corrupt have taken over at all levels and the worst part is the populace seem to support it...
It's certainly in moral decline with the population almost enslaved to social media algorithms and an incoming cabinet made up of anti Vax, conspiracy theorists and Russian assets but it's still the place to be for tech, it's still and will remain the biggest economy and it's currency is the world trading currency.

The only thing it really should be concerned about is it's debt and deficit which is absolutely eye watering now. It's amazing to think the original deficit under Reagan was sorted in one term by Bush senior and and Clinton actually ran a budget surplus.

They must not have realised Gibson have spent the last 50+ years successfully suing anyone who even thinks about maybe sketching one of their designs

It's a place for tech now but what if MAGA decide tech and unis are woke enemies? It's a very common theme among these sorts of people. I imagine US universities will begin to struggle if the administration decides they are the enemy.

Given that Musk is the new Archangel Gabriel to Trumps Jesus then no I don't see MAGA attacking tech especially when the American economy is so dependent on it. As for universities...well yes academia has long been seen as an enemy of the alt right and it wouldn't suprise me if they are made the enemy which will have consequences down the line for tech.

They won't like the fact that most tech giants are based in woke communist California. On the one hand the tech giants are ridiculously powerful especially if they get together as part of a safety in numbers strategy. On the other hand, if any of them step out of line their CEO might well find themselves having to answer charges of not doing enough to stop paedos sharing child porn etc etc. which MAGA will lap up.

There's tech, and then there's tech that suck up to Elon - the latter is where the money will go

There'll be a big push on AI, especially as MAGA have lloovveedd using it in this election

Musk is only one part of US tech. Things like Google, non-Maga social media, healthcare etc could all be in the cross hairs. More likely though is attacks on academic and research institutions, as well as on any foreign people they employ. It may become harder for the USA to attract people if they are likely to be subject to abuse as foreigners and academia. Trump and Musk may also fall out, generally narcissists can't stand each other.

The Trump administration is also threatening to withold funding from sanctuary cities, which will also be extended to those states. Said states are also where most tech is based.

In other news, Musk has shared a petition for an election in the UK and it's been shown that hive chunks of the signatures aren't from Britain. To think the same people who complained about Labour interfering by allowing Labour members to go in their own time to help the Democrats are now perfectly happy with Musk actively using his platform to push for a change of government in supposedly the closest ally of the USA.

It's very telling that Republicans are frequently attacking traditional allies of the USA. They are going to find themselves isolated with no friends soon.

There's a reason Zuckerberg and Bezos stayed silent over this election.
Even the Washington Post owned by Bezos didn't endorse a candidate for the first time in 30 years.

The only one who seemed to have some balls was Gates.

Bezos is it a Blue Origin thing?
Zuckerberg only real power comes from social media so could be curbed

Gates is bigger than the USA.
