A Political Thread pt. 2

So annoying the tourist argument (I know you are taking the ****)

This idea that tourists will stop going to the UK if we got rid of them is ridiculous. People don't not go to France on holiday because they've not got a monarchy anymore. It's stupid imo.

It won't change as long as we have a broken two party pro monarchy political system. When someone like Corbyn comes along and gets anywhere close to power they just get taken out by the establishment.

The concept of the Crown estate is laughable. Crown assets (land and property) seized (most likely illegally) from the state or it's subjects many moons ago and used to generate income in order to justify their astronomical annual grant. That wind farm off the south coast generating income for them is scandalous in the middle of a cost of living crisis. Flying around in private jets while talking about their concerns about the environment. It's the biggest con in the country's history and people are brainwashed into adoring them and their brand thanks to the free publicity that gets forced down our throats on mainstream media like the BBC.

It's all tangled webs, Cambridge and Oxford University's own more land than the Church of England. With various land either bought, given as gifts, left in wills or the 'ancient law of possession'.

Some of it gifted by the crown and stolen from the Scots etc.

Isn't 2/5 s of all mainland Britain still owned by the descendents of the Norman conquest?

Hard to believe that is news to youse in Englandshire.

They've been utterly f**king you all over for years centuries and most people are so stupid they cheer them on.
I will take your inbreed, pedophilic, German Royal Family and raise you an Irish catholic church! (With an orange lodge cartel as a joker card)

Some Democrats in the USA have said they recon the little scheme Trump has been hinting at in cooperation with Mike Johnson is that Republicans, if they get the majority in the house, will simply object to the certification of enough states to ensure Democrats cannot reach 270 electoral college votes. This will force it into a situation where the states themselves vote and, due to heavy gerrymandering, Republicans control slightly more states than Democrats. This would allow them to use their slight house majority to overthrown the vote and install Trump as president. The supreme court is pretty much guaranteed to go along with it.

It's scary just how far right wing extremism has been allowed to take root in the USA. We could be on the brink of the destruction of democracy in the west at the hands of far right lunatics.

You could show him telling pointless, blatant lies like this to his supporters and they'd still make excuses, just like the cultists they are:

I watched some voters in swing states being interviewed on Sky and some of the rationale behind their decision is mad. People voting for Trump because prices are too high and they are 100% convinced that they will go back down to the levels they were when Trump was last President. How about not being ignorant and lazy by spending two minutes searching online to see what the root causes of inflation were (COVID, supply chain problems, Ukraine etc). How about checking to see if the problem was specific to the US or was it a global issue.

The Genocide Joe argument is also short sighted and shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation and how cosy Trump and the Republicans are with Netanyahu.

I think Trump is going to win and many voters are in for a rude awakening if they think the single issue they are basing their decision on is going to get solved under him.

Reality is that unless you are very knowledgeable about politics and economics then you are unlikely to actually understand most of what actually happens. I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable, but actually most of my information still comes from news, which is biased. I try to not take what I read as given, but it's hard to research everything independently. That's why we have elected politicians, so they can listen to the experts and make an informed decision. However, the reality is that think tanks and other information bodies have become politicised. Politicians spin and change facts to suit their agenda. The media also contributes to this hugely. I don't blame the people who believe all these lies, they are constantly being fed misinformation. The real issue is a political system that has become so partisan and genuine reasoned debate is non-existent.

Joe Rogan had Musk on his podcast yesterday (Vance the other day, Trump a day or two before that) and then came out with a Trump endorsement after - hopefully that finally shuts up the people claiming he's a centrist, he's been nose diving into MAGA since he moved to Texas

Crazy that we're at election day already, feel like there's gonna be some carnage no matter which way it goes

Rogan has always been a disingenuous **** in my humble opinion.

The early days of his podcast were decent because he was a buffoon and was okay with that, he almost exclusively had on people to talk about things that interest him (mainly MMA fighters, endurance athletes, hunters, weird scientists, conspiracy theorists of the bigfoot variety not the politics variety etc.) - but as it got bigger he started liking the smell of his farts and went right off the deep on to the right and now the vast majority of his content is politics based (even when not having politicians on)
There's a good clip of Duncan Trussell floating around from several years ago where he was warning Joe about the direction he was going by giving a voice to people like Alex Jones and Ben Shapiro, but he just ignored it and went full red hat

I still think the supreme court and other courts striking down the electoral result unlikely. They were pushed to breaking point last time and it didn't happen.

Its going to be a **** show if Harris does win (in terms of backlash) but its better than Trump winning.

He still plays that "hey I dunno, dude, I'm just a comedian who likes to smoke weed and talk to people, man" card though. But I take your point, that might have come from a more genuine place in the early days but now he just says that as part of his act.

Yeah, I heard him say the other day that Alex Jones is right about everything apart from 1 thing. Guy is a clown.

Oh yeah absolutely, the mask has been slipping for a good while now and it's fully off with this:

There's no way anyone can claim he's "just asking questions" anymore
