So apparently it would have been cheaper to settle than for the government to dig their heels in. Talking about penalties. This one is substantially more than £100.

If his total bill was £4.8 million and his penalty was 30%, which is included in that amount.

That means his bill was £3.7 million and the penalty was £1.1 million

So the equivalent bill is equal to the average UK annual salary of 145 nurses
