A Political Thread pt. 2

He made it an issue for himself.

Tbh on the face of it, it shouldn't matter, but I think it does in these circumstances as well as cost of living issues and the energy crisis. How you can honestly expect Rishi Sunak to get what people are going through? He'll understand it academically, but no way he'll understand what it's like to wait.
Yeah, it's not like anyone thought that the fabulously wealthy individual wouldn't use private medical care if available. Had he admitted it straight up, it would have been a non-issue with relatively mild poor optics.
But he evaded.
Not cover-up levels of evasion ("it's not the crime, it's the cover up"); but evasion nonetheless - bit like his wife's tax forms.

Elsewhere on the deplorable Bridgen

He even argued that it wasn't relevant. 🙄

At least they're not pretending to be supporters of the NHS anymore like the last few decades.

Bonkers. The most worrying thing for those constituents is that he has no clue how the Government works. Funding the NHS is the responsibility of the Chancellor/Treasury. WTF is the Health Secretary responsible for then?

Hmm so let's see, NHS was functioning pretty damn well when Labour left government. He claims the government have vastly increased funding and yet got less for it. If they got the same system Labour had but it is now failing, that would indicate the NHS itself can't be at fault as it worked just fine for less before. If the government have somehow changed something in the NHS and that now coincides with it falling to pieces, that is their fault.

The old adage is still true, the NHS is not safe in Tory hands. They would like nothing better than to sell the whole thing off to their mates and personally profit from its demise at the expense of the average Brit. Not content with how much we are already being ripped off at every turn, they want to make it worse. This country is going backwards rapidly.

Seriously, Biden is a bloody liability for the Democrats. If they run with him for the next election, they could **** it up big time.

I think the big difference between him and Trump is that they handed it over and are Co-operating whereas Trump refused to hand over and making up BS that it was planted. GOP reps like Greene trying to equate the two things when they really aren't.

Oh they aren't equivalent but it's bloody stupid. He should have known better and now the idiots are going to pretend it's the same. You can't go handing ammo to your opposition like this.

ETA: Just noticed, this thread, the second for general politics, is now over 500 pages (10,000 posts) long - do we want to take pity on the server at any point, and start a Thread 3?
As far as I can see, only the transfer rumours thread is bigger - so I guess the same question could be asked there as well.
