A Political Thread pt. 2

Ahh Japan workplace ethics are not something I would want to touch ever espcially with tech from what I've heard from a friend.
Yeah I was looking at Western(/Western-style) agencies based in Japan rather than Japanese companies, the Salary Man lifestyle is not one I want to experience
Plenty knocking around but are only hiring from in-country atm, due to border issues

I've heard good things about Shanghai and Shenzen (and even some not-bad things about Hong Kong) but, again, it's for Western companies based there rather than local firms - so the work culture is completely different
I know in China "996" is very common in tech (9am to 9pm 6 days a week)

If you're considering HK then Central on main HK island is where most expats go. Mainly bankers and lawyers but had a mate go out there to work in IT over there. He's a BBC though and could speak some of the language already.

Other English mate moved over to HK over a decade ago. Lawyer and doing very well. But says to progress up the corporate ladder mandarin is the language to know and learn.

Good IT rate at only 17% last time I checked. But living space is cramped and expensive. But HK is about working hard and playing hard. But great places to eat out - which most HKers do. Summer humid heats can be suffocating though and then there are the typhoons.

I remember saying to someone there back in 2010 that this country was "going to the dogs"lol. I wasn't wrong.

Galway, Limerick, Cork would all be doable in Ireland if you can stand Munster people, but far less opportunities there than Dublin. Dublin COL is more or less equal to London currently with lower salaries to boot. Manageable but you'd want to be earning 40k a year minimum and be fairly frugal, I've been reliant on covid savings for any travel I've done this year, looking forward to a sizeable raise when I qualify, its needed.

Yeah. I'm thinking I could be leaving the UK soon enough too and end up in the ROI.

Thing is - I'm expecting about 1.5 million people and 6 counties to come with me....

Although not sure if many of those in the Dail are exactly bastions for honestly and competence. Our fella (living in Mayo) insists they are mostly as corrupt as f**k.

I could deal with being the most good looking guy in limerick.

I finally found an article at least attempting to explain electricity costs.

Basically, 40% of electricity production can rely on firing up gas stations and the system is rigged in favour of a dependence on gas, disregarding that energy generated from wind and solar is pretty much free in comparison.

Its basic mathematics.
Gas prices are 100% dependent on the cost of wholesale gas.
Electricity prices are 40% dependent on the cost of wholesale gas.

So how the heck do gas and electricity prices go up by the same rate when wholesale gas prices change?

None of us speak French sufficiently enough. I suspect.

Nah bro it's because of their inability to speak sufficiently in English!!!
Also for me the fact that Pen got sooooo close to being elected like if not for Putin it would've been scary close.

IDK France feels like Britain did a while ago bar they will stay in the EU, but their pain is coming I fear.
