A Political Thread pt. 2

Yeah, but that's more geared at self-employed or renting out property etc...

Having said that if we're not being hypocritical, shouldn't we be tougher on cash in hand?
Yes, and companies, partnerships etc also self assess as well. It is still a big part of our UK collects taxes for businesses.

There is still the black economy, but self assessment just hammers them with penalties and interest if they don't come clean. If it's criminal then of course it gets more serious.

But got to find them or peeps need to come clean. HMRC have a system called "Connect" which they can use to tie up things -especially when it comes to property, plus they are going to look more closely at cash based businesses.

Thing is it isn't just Brexit, so yeah technically those who say it are right. However, when things go wrong Brexit is contributing massively so instead of being able to weather these emergencies and crises, it instead becomes worse because of Brexit.

Good news all. You don't have to repay the £200 energy grant if you avoid paying energy bills in the future.

how is le pen still a thing?
France haven't been through the whole establishment figure pretending to be an anti establishment figure who comes to power and makes things more unequal and pro establishment just yet.

Think it's a painful process most have to go through before realising it makes things worse.

People keep falling for the same old tricks. I'm amazed at how people elect nationalists who, while in power, pretend they got on with other nationalists and act like a world full of right wing nationalists who all look out for their own country first and foremost, is not a good basis for global cooperation and peace.

We voted to stick it to the EU and are then shocked that they might just stick it back to us. The philosophy these people hold is inherently destructive, it's about trying to ensure some sort of perverse "dominance" over other nations.

Or it's about ambitious people who use a narrative such as leaving the EU or draining a swamp to further their power and ambition knowing they will be free of any of the crippling fall out that comes from said narrative.

Boris is a perfect example. Ambitious if somewhat ordinary journalist, gets a job as the European correspondent for a right leaning paper. Works out that there is some dissatisfaction among the readers with the EU so writes anti EU articles to pander the these readers and raise his profile. Ends up going into politics and sees and opportunity to get the top job from the younger bloke he knew at Eaton by fronting the leave campaign. Wins and gets the top job. Does he really believe the UK leaving the EU is a good thing? Of course he doesn't but it's not his problem.

And people keep falling for it. Nothing is quite as safe a bet with a huge segment of the population as blaming the "other", insert nationality, religion, race, culture etc. If there is one thing people seem to not stand it is that just maybe their problems are of their own doing and not some conspiracy by a group outside theirs. I mean none of these people think logically, they genuinely seem to think the whole world out there is full of dysfunctional people who want nothing more than to **** them over but that they are fine, upstanding individuals.

I know right. There's a cost of living crisis in the UK and he decides to try and recover from partygate by doing photo ops in Ukraine.
Is it important for the Ukrainians to have a foreign leader visit them? Yes it is. As much as the cost of living is hard, I am in a better situation than most Ukrainians.

I think it's pretty well known how much I despise Johnson and his government (if not, I need to be trying harder), but credit where credit is due, I think what he did here was right, and I support it. The only thing I'd say is that this must be supported with substantive action.
