26th and Final Day of TOP 14...

Certainly a big game but I have to switch between RM92 vs Montpol and the Stormers vs Highlanders already.. hate that everything is on at the same time.

yeah they're playing em all at the same time on this last weekend in France...pretty cool game so far though. Morné Steyn is on the bench though :p but Habana's there for Toulon.

I'm watching it on tv5 monde, by the way great stadium in Nice.

haha nice. Are you Mexican or just living there ?

shht, just noticed I have that too lol. Going to watch on the tele now...:p

It's over... Perpignan in ProD2 after 103 years in a row in first division and 7 ***les in first division (last in 2009)

I'm just sad :(

So this is the final table.....RCT and MHR into semis with ASM v Castres and ST v RM92 I believe. SF to play Wasps in play off for 2014/5 H Cup and USAP and BO relegated......I suppose it is my farewell to the Top 14 too but maybe, just maybe, Pro2 will get more air time next season!!!

Perpignan and Biarritz. Sad as it's 2 teams who are steeped in history of French Rugby

....and more ammunition to the anti-money brigade, they would seem to have two out of the three best academies in France according some sources....

Even were it correct, I would not use that to argue that BO, at least, failed because of that nor accept the arguments being used by the players that they were the cruel victims of injuries this season.

BO have been heading for relegation for at least the last three years and possibly as many as five due to their lack of management and their inability to get the players who were not too big for their boots, and would gel and play for each other week in and week out rather than just the money or their personal prestige!

don't worry, in a couple of seasons Toulouse can join in on the fun too.

And yeah, goddamn that was close for Clermont. Wtf has happened to them recently ? I get that the USAP were playing for the right to NOT BE RELEGATED, but still, a penalty away from giving away the record ??.........

And yes, I've heard about Perpignan they're one of the top 3 academies too in France.

I watched the Toulon Paris one, it was pretty awesome until the cards started flying everywhere. Including a red for Toulon....who still prevailed !...
A few things:
- Jules Plisson is still way young and erratic, and playing him in the 6N was a bigger mistake than I thought at the time, looking at it now with hindsight. (How FTD didn't get to play there is truly amazing in retrospect.....) The kid ain't ready at all. He makes a bunch of errors in almost every possible category for a FH, some passes are just BAD and way approximate....he may keep Steyn on the bench, but Steyn isn't exactly Dan Carter himself and besides his pen kicking is quite avg.
- Bonneval is the real deal. He's still super young, but all the hype is merited. He beats guys, has good footwork, is athletic and slim but not too skinny, he's got natural Rugby instincts...
- Burban is so precious. He carried like a MONSTER on that one play in the 2nd half. Hope to see a lot of him with the xv de France.
- Jonathan Danty is one heck of a future prospect for France too. Still super young, and putting together fantastic bits of Rugby already.
- Chiocci looking very promising for France, decidedly. Didn't think he'd be that impactful that quickly looking at him last year.

Montypellier putting in another "we're going to smash you tonight" performance. Boy, these guys can really bring it at home....
Pleasing result for Toulouse, will watch that in a bit...

Wonder what James Hook is gonna do. If he stays at USAP, can see Gatland being even less inclined to pick him...

Also, how can Racing Metro put out a starting XV that looks that good on paper, yet be that shambolic?!

Hook is going to Lyon I've heard. Charteris will probably be off, would love to have him back in Newport.

I think someone mentioned he is going to Montpellier

Well what a day Sat was, what a match, brilliant FTD pure class but the team played like men on fire. Sexton had a real lesson from FTD how to play at 10, really surprised that Racing offered very little with the amount of class players they had, but nearly everything we did worked which was moreorless the opposite for Racing, bad day at the office for them.
The gesture of Rene Ranger to give Thomas Combezou the ball under the sticks for the last try of the game when it was his last at Montypellier, superb sporting gesture this guy Rene (la taupe) Ranger has class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best part after the Lap of Honour was all the players coaches and staff went straight to the Bodega (tradition after last match at home) still wearing their kit and most returned without shorts boots socks etc, really appreciated by the Journos who were left waiting for a very long time for the after match intreviews, while i enjoyed a beer in the changing room with the kit man all by ourselves. After that, celebrations for a long time atmosphere at the Bodega excellent, beer flowed till very very late, next stop Lille and a semi against Clermont or Castres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Getting closer to Heaven!!!!!!!!
Sad to see both BO and USAP go down to the Pro D2 guess that's sport you win some and lose others!!!!!!!!!

I like plisson he will be a very good international 10, but not this year..

His brother plays alongside a friend of mine at Courbevoie and JP often turns up just run around with them... He's still a kid enjoying his rugby. I respect that.

I genuinely thought he was "that good". Had only seen him briefly, parts of matches, highlights, reading up on him...then the 6N happened, and I already thought starting and playing him 80min were exaggerated. Sure Tales and Lopez were out and Michalak out of form and old, but wtf there's François motherfkng Trinh-Duc, or possibly other better solutions. Anyways: in G1 against England, he was so-so. Fine. By the end of the tournament, it was acceptable that being that young and on a team with no gameplan or real coach, he obviously couldn't shine. But then I followed Paris a little more closely, in stead of settling for reputation, and comments like "he's a real attacking 10, attacks the line" - "he's keeping Morné Steyn on the bench"...
Not happy at all. No doubt the guy is worth some of the praise. No doubt. But he's WAYYYY young and not nearly an achieved/finished product. He needs to work:
on his in-game kicking, A LOT on his goal kicking, my God, his passing quite a bit too. He needs to be a lot more consistent. He needs to be better on defense, he's a big boy for a 10, gotta use that girth and improve timing.

Really sad to see Biarritz and Perpignan go to div 2. What happened to both teams? Too many injuries, bad management or coaching?
