[2025 Six Nations] Wales vs Ireland - 22/02/25

Doris injured? Oh my god that's Gavin Coombes' music!

Rare two birds one stone opportunity. @wales and Coombes.

To be fair, WOL have been pretty good with their "leaked" teams recently

Likely Wales XV: Blair Murray; Ellis Mee, Max Llewellyn, Ben Thomas, Josh Adams; Gareth Anscombe, Tomos Williams; Nicky Smith, Elliot Dee, WillGriff John, Will Rowlands, Dafydd Jenkins, Jac Morgan, Tommy Reffell, Taulupe Faletau.

Better, but not totally convinced, especially as he's also expected to go 6/2 on the bench with no 10 cover, so if Anscombe goes down early (good chance with his injury record), then we'll be back with Thomas at 10!

Rowlands and Adams are poor choices as well, so I'm not as happy as I was expecting to be.

Would be weird to call up Evans and not have him on the bench at least.

Tom Rogers has been one of your best players so far so that seems hard on him if accurate
Easily our best back 3 player, I find it amazing he would be overlooked. Infact I had him promoted to FB from wing.

That is one guff front row, Thomas has been good, and our scrum has been solid, I really don't see the point is switching all 3 out

Dee makes sense for me. Brings experience and by far the best lineout thrower available.

Never been a fan of Gareth Thomas, but I will admit he was good v France, but not so great v Italy. Smith is a good player who, so no issue with him.

WGJ I have no idea. Was terrible at the Scarlets and hasn't played much for Sale. I mean, we're just bouncing from one poor tighthead to another at this point, so meh!

How much has he played for your lot recently? How has he played?
Maybe 4 games this season? That's all I can think of, at least
Two very good, two ok
Realistically there's no way he's match ready - he's just not played enough since a long injury layoff
Think the two good ones were in the champions cup though so if was at a decent standard

That'll do. Better than nothing. Given his lack of game time you would've thought he's impressed in training at least.

Same with Falatau and Adam's, neither are anywhere near 100%, if they ever return there...

I havnt seen WGJ play this season, but I can't imagine he's tearing up trees in training without even making the bench in the first 2, and considering the scrum has been the only highlight...

The only thing I can think of is maybe he has been getting fit, which would bring question marks over his selection in the first place.

This is what I'm frustrated by with welsh rugby, having to select players to get them fit, and if rumours are accurate having to coach basic skills and work on skill development in the national set up. 4 academies and 4 regional playing opportunities aren't providing enough talent now, merry go round of coaching and development teams, the idea reducing the number regions is insane.

When the Lions tour comes around Wales fans will understand how Ulster fans are feeling now. Maybe Ireland's new policy is to only select players who will sing both anthems.
