[2025 Six Nations] Wales vs England - 15/3/25

What about the roof? Is it open? Is it closed? Gatland must know! (I know he's fired but I'm assuming that's the most important thing to him).

It's been a very long time since England scored four tries against Wales away. Not sure if we'll get a BP at all tbh.

Will it be Reffell and Morgan in the back row? Thats one hell of a flank pairing.

I agree. However, I would not want to underestimate our ability to be awful.

Don't really see enough of him, but from what I have his breakdown work has stood out quite a bit more than any other attributes. Others will be better informed.
I've claimed for a couple of years now that the current law interpretations just doesn't suit his game at all. He would have thrived 10 years ago, but now you're lucky to secure a couple of jackals a game at international level with the refs very struct on tacklers rolling, hand on the ground, supporting body weight etc.

He's got a good engine on him and always has good tackle stats, so he does offer that. But, he isn't a good ball carrier, or link player, and for me you need to offer one of those at least nowadays to be considered a test level flanker.

Wales are despirate for ball carriers, so it's a no brainer to me to bring Wainwright in at 6, who's an excellent athlete. Then I also don't see what Reffell offers off the bench, he isn't an impact player, or overly versatile.

The only arguments I agree with in starting Reffell is

1) He knows these horrible English swines very well and that could help us in the game

2) Wainwright off the bench is a lot better than Reffell off the bench.

England starting XV
15. Marcus Smith (Harlequins, 43 caps)
14. Tom Roebuck (Sale Sharks, 3 caps)

11. Elliot Daly (Saracens, 72 caps)
10. Fin Smith (Northampton Saints, 10 caps)
9. Alex Mitchell (Northampton Saints, 22 caps)
1. Ellis Genge (Bristol Bears, 70 caps) – vice-captain

Replacements
16. Jamie George (Saracens, 100 caps) – vice-captain

18. Joe Heyes (Leicester Tigers, 11 caps)
19. Chandler Cunningham-South (Harlequins, 14 caps)
20. Henry Pollock (Northampton Saints, uncapped)
21. Tom Willis (Saracens, 5 caps)
22. Jack van Poortvliet (Leicester Tigers, 17 caps)
23. George Ford (Sale Sharks, 98 caps)

That has.....a number of surprises

Why are Daly and Freeman that way round?
Why is Ford on the bench?
Why isn't Willis starting?
CCS is now covering lock? (just checked and his last game there was 4 years ago!)
Ford on the bench was a WTF moment. 3 10s in a squad just not needed. Having 6-2 split and managing not to have a lock in there.

Willis not starting is the least of the problems in this team, which says a lot
