Italy have their best squad for a long time, some muscle up front, an actual back row until, and that centre pairing with line breakers and ball players out wide.

Whether that's enough to turn over a strong established team in Edinburgh I'm not sure, but they will be competitive.

I'd love Italy to win this and put a spanner in the organisers' obvious attempts to help Scotland this year. They get two home games first and their hardest game is left until the last week whereas England are facing an uphill struggle to not be out of it after two rounds. The Jocks get an easier fixture schedule than everyone else every year.

So, you are saying that two years ago England away was the easy game?

2022 was the last time Scotland started their campaign at home strangely it was those easy English. Funnily enough the same as 2021 those easy English at Twickenham.

Can I delete my last post please?. Looking back on the last few years, we've had easier opening games than the Scots have had!!.

If you would have said 10 years ago that Scotland v Italy would be a more interesting game than either France/Wales or Ireland/England then people would have been laughed at but out of the three games this weekend, I think this one is the most appealing game on paper. Form wouldn't suggest it, but I've got a nagging feeling that Italy are going to turn Scotland over here.

Is it really? Ireland are about as favourites as Scotland are, and France are heavy favourites, but let's not get too excited.

I will give you, over the last 20 years Scotland v Italy has been easily the worst games year in year out, and that has changed recently.

Putting bias aside, the fact that Italy are in with a shout of beating the side ranked 6th in the world rankings away from home has to be a great thing for the comp. I can remember when both of these sides' place in the 6N was being questioned year in year out due to them being levels below the other four nations.

England vs. Ireland is the most interesting game this weekend.

Scotland will win comfortably. Although not as comfortably as France against Wales.

I think you are a bit blasé in dismissing Italy in this game - Scotland will probably win but I don't think it will be the stress-free cakewalk that you seem to imply.

I thought you said Scotland had an easy opening couple of fixtures in Italy and Ireland.

I don't think I ever said Ireland was an "easy" game. You have to admit though, that having two home games to start, regardless of opposition, is easier than having Ireland away, followed by France at home. The 6N is all about momentum and Scotland have a better chance of building that than England have given the fixtures at the start. There's no easy game in the 6N but playing the top two sides in your first two games is as hard as it comes.

England got exactly that "advantage" I'm 2021 and 2023, both time against Scotland and Italy. In theory easy games, also their last games were against Ireland, regarded as your toughest game.

You are criticising the draw for Scotland and ignoring the exact same circumstances for yourselves because it suits you.

My brother in Christ, the man has acknowledged his error. Leave him rest.

I don't think this one will be too close. Scotland will want a strong start and to right a few of last year's wrongs. Italy are a bit "who's gonna show up?" So can't be certain but I don't think this will be their game of the tournament.

If it was in Italy I would give them more of a chance.

In Scotland, I don't think it will be that close.
