[2024 TRC] Australia vs New Zealand - 21/09/24

Any neutrals bothered about this game?. I can't say I'm interested. ABs will put two cricket scores on the Aussies and have people claim that they have turned the corner. The Bledisloe is now the most boring "competition" in International rugby. Hopefully when the ABs - Boks tours start again it's put out of its misery.

I think this could be close to be honest. You'd imagine it's the one that Schmidt has been targeting and he's always been a slow starter in his coaching gigs. Obviously massively limited by the lack of talent in Australia but it doesn't take a great team to be competitive with the current NZ side.

playing for a nearly 100 year old trophy with true history will always trump more manufactured friendlies against SA just because the powers that be seem to think people will keep turning up to see the same teams over and over and over again

Are Australia even close to their longest losing streak to NZ? Historically its always been pretty one sided. Still the most popular game - at least in Aus. Bit like the Ashes

i think we should drop it down to one game a year thats its up for grabs, always a chance aussie will get up for one game, would make it spicy

Yeah they missed a trick not trying to mirror 6N and adding in Japan and Fiji or something along those lines to make the RC a bit more interesting.

Although rugby administrators miss so many tricks they basically just trolling at this point.

Pretty safe bet that the All Blacks will win.

Yeah, Razor is shaping up to be a big disappointment with his ultra conservative selections, basically a continuation of Foster's out of position ones.

Is he a "selection free" selector, or is he bound to the contracts NZRU concluded with some players not to go overseas?
as i said to someone today, its not like he's dragging Sir Richie and DC out of retirement in an attempt to secure a win...his safe options are several guys in far from best form just because....."experience"

@Kiwiwomble i think Razor's idea is to build combos.

i thought we did a lot of good, attack was starting to look ok, in that last game. Ione played well in both games against south africa either with his decoy lines or his crash ball being very useful against the strong rush defence. But i'm not sure that means we should play basically the same team.

Coaches often take this philosophy that if a team loses then use the same players the next game because they will be fired up. except i don't reckon it always works when going from a tougher opposition to a weaker one. for one there is no revenge factor, for two a victory will prove nothing. so the motivation can sometimes not be there.

i made this argument after we lost to Aus a few years ago - suggesting in our next game against Argentina we would likely have greater motivation and therefore play better if we made some changes. we didn't, and we had a lacklustre performance resulting in our first ever loss to Argentina.

I hope that doesn't happen again. Razor's superpower is his motivational ability, so perhaps i shouldn't be concerned. But this is international rugby and he is dealing with a group of players with a more diverse culture, and who have not predominantly had experience in crusaders philosophies - either through plaing for the cursaders or being in their academies

and on a horses for courses basis (which it doesn't seem is a philosophy Razor likes), proctor could have been a good call, jordan to fullback, telea to wing.

based on the players, we should have no fear of teh Aussies. But Schmidt is famous for analysing his opposition, and there's no opposition he is better equipped to analyse at teh moment. and then there is the motivational factor. i hear they are using the same old tactic of telling the players that teh bledisloe cup is really important and there is a rich history between thee teams. does that argument really still hold up when the wallabies haven't had the cup in twenty years? perhaps it helps that Razor has played in teams that lost the cup, but i'm not so sure.

we didnt score a try........

look i hope youre right....i just struggle with people like savea, tjp and BB seem to be untouchable, at most dropped to the bench when people like jordan, proctor, Perofeta etc get one game and even if they play well...back out of position at best and never seen again more often

the guys hes favouring are all on the way out and the ones with a long future are having their confidence knocked

I'll get lambasted for this but I'll say Oz wins 31-29.
im not sure you will, we've lost several over the last few years that we "should" have won...and i think we're still playing like a bunch of guys that havent played together much
