2023-2024 transfers

So who do we have coming up for 15 after Brown?
Assuming Brown retires/gets dropped after 2019. Because he must have been told he wasn't in Eddies plans really IMO.
Who is there currently that might have potential to takeover?
Guessing of the current prem lot.
Watson
Mallinder (Dear god no)
Morris
Hammersley

What positions do the likes of Malins and Protheroe prefer? 10 or 15?

Malins is the one I'm most excited by. Protheroe hasn't really impressed at Bristol AFAIK?

From a more immediate point of view, I'd like to see Woodward get a shot. He's been very good for Gloucester since he came back from injury.

On a side note, and I am DEFINITELY NOT suggesting he play full back for England, but has foden permanently moved to wing now? I just haven't seen him in a 15 shirt for a while

Think Foden is on the wing as Tuala is preferred at 15...

I've heard that EJ sees Mallinder as a 15, Saints see him as a 12, he saw himself as a 10 but now wants to play 15 for England purposes... Sense that will cause some friction...

Has played 15 for a Saints, and it comes across that's where we want to play him, but with injuries to myker and Francis have been in able to

Quins and New Zealand have announced a "cooperation agreement". I assume this is what the NZ media were talking about a couple of weeks ago in choosing specific clubs that NZ players can move to and still be eligible for international duty. Any thoughts?

I thought they wanted clubs where their players could progress, not suffer at the hands of that shambolic set of coaches

I see they launched and long and thorough search to find club... sponsored primarily by adidas

Saffacens ran from SA. Irish being Irish Newcastle wanted by the SRU. Worcester signing more and more Southern Hemisphere players. Sale losing talent to Ireland. Pests breaking the salary cap with Mercenaries. Bristol handpicking from all over the gaff.

Now Harlezealand?

Not ideal for our national team really is it!

Could be interesting. Some decent NZ coaches could cut their teeth over here, some young English coaches can get experience over there.

Then maybe young lads can go and play some ITM Cup, I know Sale used to send lads out to play Currie Cup rugby which was good for them.

Really can't see NZ wanting many coaches or players in the ITM prob 1 player.

And what Coach wouldn't they want? Evans maybe to get an eye on him.

The option to send players to SA, Aus and NZ is already available just most club don't do it.
Same with coaching Murphy from Tigers spent some time in NZ with the blues and Highlanders to learn some things. (Didn't help much....)

"With its strong ex-pat community, London is of key strategic importance to New Zealand Rugby, and when you factor in our shared relationship with adidas, this cooperation agreement is a very natural fit." - Steve Tew

I can easily see a situation where NZ retain some control over the sabbatical players
I can easily see any top club being unwilling to be dictated to, or to have the star player for such a short period of time (given £££ expectations)
I can easily see Adidas agreeing to pay for some of this; and insisting that the Adidas All Black players go to an Adidas club, and mention Adidas with reasonable frequency. Especially when the Adidas club is playing against any of the following: Bath (Canterbury); Exeter (Samurai); Gloucester (X-Blades); Leicester (Kukri); LIrish (X-Blades); Newcastle (ISC); Northampton (Macron); Sale (Samurai); Saracens (BLK); Wasps (Under Armour) or Worcester (Under Armour). Or hell, even Bristol's inhouse kit supplier.
It's important to Adidas that people know about Adidas; and their connection to the Adidas All Blacks; and their support of this Adidas sponsored sabbatical to help with their Adidas mortgages and their Adidas mental health.

That London is (IIRC) the city with the highest population of kiwis in the world, is, I'm sure, a bonus.

Declan Kidney and Les Kiss to join London Irish.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-u...-les-kiss-join-forces-premiership-strugglers/

Putting the Irish back in London Irish it seems.

A very good move for Irish and Kidney IMO.
Kidney has a year in the championship to get back into the pro game groove. Irish get some massive experience to go with their current Young Coaches.
Just hope they can keep a core of youngsters although Big Joe should look to move.
