2022 World Cup - Qatar

I am so glad I did not put that cheeky tenner on Japan.

Sayanara Japan, arigato gozimasta for beating Germany and Spain and also setting a great example cleaning up after yourselves.

Minamino missed in the penalty shootout for Liverpool v Leicester. That time he ballooned it over. Still this one was pretty bad as well.

Are we going to return to the normal order? So Brazil, Spain and Portugal to win their last 16 matches?

Hopefully Spain and Portugal complete the QF line up. Time for the big, close matches.

FIFA's scheduling is bizarre and for this WC giving England and France almost 6 days to prepare for their QF whereas Brazil play v Croatia theirs on Friday first match. In terms of recovery time that is a big advantage.

Spain have no real cutting edge. Like the 2010 side but with out sneaking the 1-0 victories. So much possession, but not the output. Morocco defending really well though.

Simon is dodgy with his feet.

And so it's penalties.

2 awful pens from Spain. All to do now.

Well deserved Morocco. Parked the bus and tried to win it on the counter attack then goalie was hero and Spain suck at pens.

At least one African side in the quarters and a nice upset. But Spain - after putting 7 past Costa Rica, reverted to their try and suffocate teams with possession. But boy it's dull to watch without an end product.
