[2021 Six Nations] Wales vs England (27/02/21)

We criticise the ref for his decision making, not Biggar for taking advantage of it
In response others are criticising Farrell for taking advantage of a similar bit of poor decision making by the ref.

That is the difference between the 2. Taking advantage of an unfair situation when it is to your benefit doesn't make you a hypocrite for then complaining it is wrong when the reverse happens. When have you ever seen a player protest a wrong decision that was in their favour? They don't they keep quiet. Does that make them all hypocrites when they protest when it goes against them?
I think the point being made is that there are water carriers on the pitch, shirley?

Yes, but the point is that the ref shouldn't be calling time on. If he calls time on then a player should exploit it. It's not for the players to determine that play can't restart because water carriers are on the field, that's for the ref. In 2 cases the ref made the wrong call and in 2 cases the player took advantage.

The difference is we are blaming the ref for how he restarted the game, others are blaming Farrell for how the ref restarted the game and making out he is a hypocrite. In both cases the onus is on the ref. Essentially it boils down to calling Farrell a hypocrite for taking advantage of a referee blunder but not being happy to have the reverse happen. Literally at no point has a player taking advantage of a ref error but still not wanting that error against them been a point of contention until now it seems.

No, it's just referring to the fact that Farrell told Gauzere he couldn't restart the game as there were water carriers on the pitch.

Which is correct as far as I'm aware. It also shouldn't have been restarted when Farrell took advantage of the game being restarted in the earlier clip. Same thing, it's not for the players to correct a ref blunder. The ref calls time on and if there are water carriers on that is the refs mistake, the players can resume play.

Hence, Farrell was correct in his criticism of Gauzere and the fact he took advantage of a ref making the same mistake in the past doesn't change the fact it was still a mistake.

And when we've stopped stewing over Cueto we've got the reffing over the scrums in the first lions test '09, Borthwicks captaincy and Steve Walsh to go after first. Then, and only then, will we get to this fiasco.

Jeez, get over yourselves.
