it's the right call. You only keep ball on collapsed mauls off of kicks from open play not restarts.

edit: you could also make an argument it was just an unplayable ball cause both teams had possession of the ball when the mass formed. Then scrum goes to team moving forward and if no team moves forward it's the team in attacking half.
 
When a maul forms from a tackle, they never enforce collapses against the tackler.

They always do the maul and collapse during a tackle is one the biggest bullshirt calls in rugby. Yet that's how it's seen.
 
Ffs Ireland slowed that down cynically as **** how is that allowed...
 
Considering the two teams between them are made up largely of Leinster and Sarries players, this is pretty disappointing fare.
