Straight up forgot which Irish players were in the squad, but I'll root for them against Japan because there's so many of them. If the number drops below like 4 then I flip. Its simple science and pettiness

Using the Lions as a vehicle to beat the Japanese is the equivalent of getting a group of your friends to jump the dude that beat you up for Scotland and Ireland.

I don’t see a huge difference between Tualagi and Watson to be honest. The only real difference is Watsons bloodline is half Scottish and Tualagi has zero English blood in him. Tualagi moved to England a few years before Watson moved to Scotland but that’s about it.

Products? That implies that people can trace their education back to one singular place when education is fluid and never stops. Did Hamish Watson stop learning about rugby at 18 or something? Never really understood this argument. Your education, or what you are a product of, can have, and often does, has more than one place.
Tualagi’s rugby education started way before he moved to England so you could argue he’s not a product of English rugby at all but the sensible answer is, as always, somewhere in between. He’s a product of his family, of Samoan rugby culture and Leicester and all the other clubs he’s played for before.

It’s a lot more simple for me. I don’t care how many Welsh are in there. If Tipuric isn’t in the test squad I’m not watching.

Think you’ll be alright. Furlong is obviously nailed on and I’d say Beirne, Murray and Henshaw as as close to being nailed on as you can get without actually being nailed on. Aki has a pretty good chance too.

Talking of nailed on players for the first test I’d say in addition to Furlong you’re looking at AWJ, Itoje and Curry. Gatland will obviously have his starting 15 now but they’ll be a lot of question marks over various players and obviously final mind will be made up the week leading up to the first test. Lots of places up for grabs which is how you want it.

Some interesting comments from Gatland. Apparently the players all took a vote for the leadership group and Farrell got loads of votes. Not surprising. Gatland confirmed he’s been **** but he’s in for that reason really, and what he’s achieved.
Also confirming what we already knew about Beirne being a back row which I don’t really like to be honest but we all knew that was the case.
Big props went to Beirne and Henshaw, lots of talk of combinations and everyone getting a crack as well as the Saracen boys looking good in training.
