[2018 November Tests] England vs Japan (17/11/18)

Apologies if posted already.

Japan: 15 William Tupou, 14 Akihito Yamada, 13 Timothy Lafaele, 12 Ryoto Nakamura, 11 Kenki Fukuoka, 10 Yu Tamura, 9 Fumiaki Tanaka, 8 Kazuki Himeno, 7 Masakatsu Nishikawa, 6 Michael Leitch (c), 5 Uwe Helu, 4 Wimpie van der Walt, 3 Jiwon Koo, 2 Atsushi Sakate, 1 Keita Inagaki

Replacements: 16 Yusuke Niwai, 17 Koki Yamamoto, 18 Asaeli Ai Valu, 19 Samuela Anise, 20 Hendrik Tui, 21 Shunsuke Nunomaki, 22 Yutaka Nagare, 23 Rikiya Matsuda

Check out a World Rugby video with a Japanese housewife who knows nothing about rugby having a hot flush at Tamura's delicious dinked cross kick for a try. She loves him almost half as much as I do!

12 & 15 are new to me in those positions. I guess Tatekawa and Matsushima remain injured sadly. If Japan can get 2-3 tries and keep it under 50 points conceded then I think they should very happy.

I'm confused - that'll teach me to spend the day a fully paying attention to British politics on News24!

I thought you were raising me, as in a better proof on concept than Barkley's 0?

Either way, I think we're all agreed that it's very early for JC4, but... If he takes to international rugby like a duck to water, he'll be going to the RWC

ETA, your 21 matches is just premiership starts, he's also got 3 European starts, 3 Euro subs + LV, Championship and B&ICup matches under his belt. He's young, he's also in his 3rd year
I've been watching too much politics too!

What I was trying, badly, to say was that although JC4 and Mercer are fairly callow they've still got a shed load more experience than Hill.

I actively wanted to see both JC4 and Mercer now and at the RWC but think it's way too early for Hill, although Rats makes a fair point on the physicality.

Now, do we still have a Prime Minister?

EJs stupid comments aside I'm glad he's mixed things up a bit. Good to see Nowell have a run in centres and Lozowski is also an exciting prospect against a less physical side.

Good to see Cockas get a run out too. I think if I were due to play opposite him I'd be crying .

Hoping for a really enjoyable match, and that japan pull out some of that passing magic that got them that amazing win against SA.

Wasn't going to comment on Jones comments but I've changed my mind. We all want to see rugby take off in more countries. To grow it's popularity and to proliferate the great values it teaches. If tier one nations like us, go round mugging off every would be rugby nation like some school yard bully that is just not going to happen. It's not big, it's not clever, and quite frankly it's not bloody English. Now jones maybe an Aussie but while he represents the Rose he should behave accordingly.

Looking forward to seeing that team play.

So Underhill is under Hill and Hartley is over the moon.

Wanted to see wilson underhill mercer as i see alot of balance in that but wilson and mercer provide enough going forward to have lawes physicality and limit underhills game to protect him for aus and Hill may to inexperienced but its a good chance for a young prospect to show where he is at, does he deserve it over other young players maybe not but he has been in the england set up and EJ obv sees enough to show hes ready for a chance so i really hope he takes it and shows what hes about asive not seen much of him.

If we are dominant and winning but a large margin then hill for itoje at 50 min give and underhill at 65 for wilson, give mercer and hill alot of game time.

Nowell at 13 i like but just hope he distributes the ball and gets big joe into the game as the guy could be great. Slade on the bench ready to come on and get the ball wide late on.

Generally happy with the team, its strong but experimental at the same time amd could dominate whilst limiting game time for the likes of Farrell Underhill Hartley ready for aus.

Not overly familiar with about half of these players. The two second rows are listed as:

Helu: 1.93m, 115kg
Wimpie van der Walt: 1.87m, 102kg

Hoping Wimpie goes well in particular, but I can't see how Japan will hold up in the tight.

Also I watched some Will Tupou highlights - the guy looks like a beast!

a 6'2 102kg lock... that's smaller than most opensides.

Selfless, either JoCoka or George could have had that score if there wanted it

I thought you couldn't be caught in a maul like that from a restart? Or have I misread the call?

Complete inability to turn ball over from England. So frustrating.
