[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 4: Wales v Ireland (11/02/2017)

Game over.

For Me Ireland kept going wide without having earned the right to go wide. Wales then found it too easy to suffocate them.

Utterly f***** brain dead from Ireland. Chasing the game and shovelling the ball out to static players who have no chance to line bust past onrushing defenders. Pathetic in the Welsh 22. Nobody played well for Ireland. Maybe Jackson in his 9 minute cameo. Ringrose was okay too.

Congrats Wales. Really aggressive defence left Ireland looking clueless. Three tries to nil points out that Wales are a deserved winner. Thought Rhys Webb and George North had fine games.

Sad to see Bowe depart like that.

This was lost by poor decision making by coaches, players and a superb Welsh performance.

Best has struggled last few games.
Toner had off day but is usually good.
Sean O Brien hasn't been good this 6 Nations and how he stayed on shocks me.
Our half backs were battered. Earls and Henshaw very good, Kearney good in air but poor elsewhere rest outside poor.

Well done Wales. Possibly saved Howley there so mixed feelings for Wales fans I guess! Gatland to pick 20+ Welsh lions now.

Agree with most of this except for Earls being very good. He's great with the ball in his hands in space and is a lethal finisher. Poor at almost everything else.

Agree with a lot of that but if Henshaw's wasn't a good game I don't know what is.

Great game and much needed win for the Welsh, some of the hits and tackling were great to watch specially in first half.

Great advert for the 6 nations. Well played Wales, although if I supported Wales I'd be angry its taken 4 games for them to turn up. They have done England a big favour tonight.

Warburton was superb but O brien should have been subbed long before time. He didn't turn up at all.

Could have been very different had Henshaw not messed up in the maul. Looked like it was heading over anyway, and that would have put Ireland ahead, and I think they would have gone on to win if they had.

Wales certainly looked the more threatening out wide. The outside backs looked great today ball in hand, making a lot of metres. Still not convinced Biggar is the right player to get the most out of them though.

Pack also went well today. Ken Owens had another impressive display, lineout spot-on, all over the pitch, might just be lions front-runner after his displays this 6 nations. AWJ industrious as ever and managed to put pressure in the lineout. Back row impressive as ever, although I don't think Moriarty is the 8 we need.

There is little or no x-factor in the Irish backs outside of Sexton and a refusal to look at options who are more attacking minded. It's like they have five Lee Halfpennys back there sometimes. Good players, but not a great combination. They can struggle to chase a game and weirdly in their two losses they seem to get tired out after running through loads of phases, so they can't use that tactic repeatedly.

Wales have defeated Argentina, South Africa and Ireland under Howley and could easily have defeated England. By all means disagree with the guy but give him a little credit and respect. I don't see any real drop off since Gatland left.

The bottom line is this tournament is in a wee purple patch with five sides capable of beating each other with home advantage. Possibly for the first time ever (and aided by English injuries). Losing a game doesn't mean you should throw out the baby with the bathwater. Just means you lost a coin toss.

Barnes, the anti-Welsh/Anti-Irish English ref, cross out to suit the narrative of the losing team.
