Wales have done loads of sealing!! Just watch the little buggers go. We are at it too of course but I'm screaming at my own little red grievances too. I mean lets be fair. It's a ref from NZ which is hardly a refuge of great refs, who can only get an Under 20 gig
Edit: must be said you were due a penalty for us slapping the ball down there

Victory...... Lol
We're good at the dark arts because we're born in holes end sent to dig for truffles at infancy.Ha true. Both sides where doing it, but that style really helps Irish sides you lot are way too crafty at those types of things.
Frustrating for Wales. Grandslam champions, and now probably out at the pool stages. Had high hopes for this JWC and all.

Yeah Wales out at the group stage is a bit of a shame. Real group of death here. You'll have to beat the baby blacks to even have a chance of getting out. Imagine we'll both be outclassed by that team of pure bred mares. No idea how Georgia are at Under 20 but they were dicked on by NZ today.
Yeah you dropped 9 points from kicks and made silly mistakes which you wouldn't get with an experienced team, especially how we were allowed back into the game. I'll tell you what though that 11 was a real livewire. Looked a class above when he got the ball and without fail beat a defender on every carry. One thing we did very well though was isolate the centers in particular with our big forward carriers and ate up yards so the back row really needs to do more of a sweeping enforcer job for the All Blacks. There's a lot of talent there for sure and they didn't win the 6N for nothing. Scrum was very good as they managed to twist Porter out of shape who would be considered no slouch in the scrum. There's definitely a good set piece base there
I got home to watch the rugby just when Japan went 19-7 up and the nightmares started returning. I don't know what happened in the first half since I missed most of it but it sounds like the baby boks underestimated Japan... you would have thought we would have learnt our lesson. Seems the coach may have had a good shout at half time because they were a very different team after that. Curwin kicked very well, but apart from that one run that made the last try I didn't really see him do much with the ball. Our flyhalf seemed to have quite a good eye for gaps as well so that is encouraging. Zain Davids seems to be quite a powerful runner but his defense was very shoddy, I saw him got bounced off quite a number of times. I'm glad that we managed to bounce back and gain some composure in the second half but I will still be very interested to see what happens against Argentina and France.
I think you guys are a bit negative. The Japanese had a Tongan looking like Jonah Lomu. The guy will score against any team in the competition. We still stomped them good. There is NO reason to think this team can't go to the final 4, and then anything can happen.
It took us a while to figure out the tackling technique of the Japanese, and the referee did assist them in their dive-tackles towards the knees, until one of them didn't use his arms and got a yellow. Then they stopped tackling so low, and gave us the upper hand. But we were in control the whole game, I think it was just 1st game jitters at the start. If our scrumhalf didn't try to pass the runners dead, we would have had a lot more tries.
Fair enough, hopefully it was just that. I did notice we had a lot less issues with breaking the line after that yellow.
On the scrumhalf note, I quite liked the look of the reserve scrumhalf. Seems quite fast and nippy. I'm hoping he gets more game time going forward.
I'm cautiously optimistic really. I don't really know how to judge the team, I missed the first half as I said, but I think we are a better team than last year (because we actually have a backline this year). There were definitely some positives, the backs were looking for work, the forwards ran hard, the mauls gained good ground (although they constantly stuffed it up at the end) and the shut out in the second half.
I think it is a bit too early to judge too much though, I think we will have a better view at the end of the group stages. I still see us going through from our group. But our next two group matches will be interesting challenges.
On the wing's tries though, he didn't really pull anything that warrants a Lomu comparison. The first try was a good line run and our flyhalf standing off being scared ****less, the second try was a good catch, and the final try was the Baby Boks overrunning him and then a good step and twist on his part to get over the line. I think he is a good player, don't get me wrong, but no Lomu comparisons just yet from me.

Gutted that we lost that game. We looked great for the first 25mins, completely outplaying Ireland in every facet of the game. Fair play to Ireland though, they started putting serious pressure on our lineout, carrying the ball with real intent and managed to overturn that 17 point deficit.
Our discipline really let us down. We were being constantly pinged for offside, and that allowed Ireland field position time and time again. Our handling also fell apart with some wild passes going behind players etc.
I thought that we looked like the stronger team overall, but Ireland put in the better 80min performance and just about deserved the win.
I had high hopes of this U20 team, there's some real quality in that side, but looks like the wc is over before it had really begun. Big ask to try to beat the baby blacks. I know we've done it before, but it was in terrible conditions where we managed to strangle them with a superior scrum and excellent kicking display. I think we'll come up short in the centres, which lacked some subtlety v Ireland. Missed Watkin there imo.
Not a great day.
I had £1,000 on France beating Argentina by 9 or more points. France were the best side in the 6 nations this year despite the Wales grand slam and Argentina hadn't played any international U20 fixtures since last year's tournament! So of course Out of nowhere they beat one of the pre-tournament favourites...
That will teach you to bet against a SH team!
I had £500 on Australia beating Scotland by 10 or more points. Australia beat New Zealand two weeks ago and Scotland were crap in the U20 6 nations nations.
That will teach you to bet against a NH team
I just said he LOOKED like Lomu....and he had a great game.
Part of the Japanese winger scoring at will is our players looked totally uninterested in trying to stop him. I'm speaking of 10 and 14 specifically here. Our junior sides tend to go for outright pace wingers with very little else.
Fair enough.

You didn't take a look at our centres did you?
Specifically that reserve blondie that came on. He looked more like a Brussow like loose forward then a centre. The one he replaced was also quite a large individual, over 100kg and 6 foot 3. That poor scrumhalf who tried to tackle him and stop that second SA chip try stood no chance.
But yes, 10 is fast but looked a bit scared of contact to me. Although the one wing, Dash, did some good things on defense.
