[2016 Super Rugby] Highlanders vs. Sharks (Round 9) 22/04/2016

Would like to see the replay of that tackle on Ben Smith with about 5 to go, looked like he was flipped over the 90, but they never showed a replay.

One thing the Sharks can do is defend, I wonder if they actually practice attacking set piece plays.

Willie le Roux is so lucky. This could have been the end of his career

Why should we be? Surely you, of all people, don't buy into all that French Media and fan bullsh¡t about the referee being biased in favour of NZ. FFS, he allowed the French to score a try from one of the most blatant ruck offsides you'll ever see.

I think he was referring to the game being a bad spectacle, but still winning. I assume so anyway.

I sincerely do not know what you are talking about. I don't understand how the ref's performance is relevant to what he or i said.

Indeed. Thank you.

You're kidding right mate? Probably not, so you are actually incredibly stupid comparing a WORLD CUP FINAL to a Super Rugby game when the opposition was reduced to 14 men after 12 minutes and they still offered nothing on attack, now buzz off.
But you were the one who said you'd rather play well and lose. Now you say it depends on the stage/situation. It's as if you are making up the argument as you go instead of sticking to your original statement.
I'm looking for consistency in your statements and i can't find it.

For the record, i would have celebrated had i been in your shoes, but i am not the one claiming i'd rather lose and play well.
I'd pick losing and playing bad 10 times out of 10.

Sorry, I misunderstood your meaning. I should have known to were smarter than that!

Any game you walk away from with the table points is a good one.

Highlanders in deep dodo here. Red card 15 minutes into the f'n game!! This is where losing buckman for the season is going to cost us that guy playing at 12 has been utter crap for us the last two games imo.

This could be the start of a big slump for the Highlanders.... They have like 5 tough games in a row here.

That said I think they can still win this..... atleast I hope so.

I do hope you're talking about Rob Thompson! Dude offers nothing on attack, and nothing on defense. He's a major speedbump though. Burleigh 2.0.

Thompson had a shocker against the Reds but so did a lot of people including fekitoa who seems to have avoided any criticism

after a wake up call i'd be starting him, think hes looked really good, he was awesome against the tahs, honestly think hes worth investing in and developing, emery has been around long enough withoutbeing able to force his way into the team

This boy Emery has been hung out to dry and i feel very sorry for him. While the fall by Le Roux looked bad and he could have been badly hurt, to my way of viewing it Emery only had eyes for the ball. There was no malice and other indiscretions with far more intent have merely been dealt with by a slap on the wrist. I feel Emery's got the four weeks out because of the way Le Roux landed.

He has been punished EXACTLY because of how Le roux landed, but that doesn't change the responsibility under the rules is to protect people in the air.

Comparing to other incidents is a different story, not consistent at all

Based purely on this...he got nowhere near the ball and I thought his "jump" looked pretty half hearted, not seriously attempting to catch it, as I said to my father in law during the game when he started ranting about there being nothing wrong with it...if he'd snapped his neck we wouldn't we arguing about it and we were very close to that

He should have held back and made a legal tackle on the ground

No question re remorse or intent though, never meant to harm anyone

Just my thoughts though, each to their own

I will add from a personal side of things, the guy I traded starting spot with whilst playing club had his back broken, opposition scrum worked out some technique where they'd take a step back before the hit...they lost control over the greater distance and bent him backwards over our locks...that wasn't their intent for a second...but not thinking through their actions ruined this guys life, I'm obviously bias but think we can just give a little more though sometimes
