Situation 1: Player A jumps into air where ball is, fails to catch ball because player B has already caught it. Player A knocks over Player B.
Situation 2: Player A kicks where ball is, fails to connect with ball because player B has already kicked it. Player A trips Player B over.
Why does it matter whether neither player has the ball at point of contact? If you trip over another player it doesn't really matter if they have the ball or not. Your exact words were "the player has to put himself in a position to be able to compete for the ball its not the Refs fault if one of the players either wasnt good enough or it was physically impossible" [to get the ball]. Naholo did not put himself in the correct position, he was not good enough and/or it was physically impossible, it was certainly not the ref's fault.
personally if in both situations player A is going for the ball it should be play on, getting the ball should be enough compensation
