I can't imagine 12trees doing what JJ just did though...

Because we have Barritt or Burrell playing 13 ATM. (With Manu injured)

Put Burrell or Barritt at 12 instead of 36 and have JJ at 13.

AT the squad is like

12) Eastmond, TT
13) Burrell, Barritt (Manu when fit)

Imo it should be

12) Eastmond, Burrell/Barritt
13) Burrell/Barritt, JJ, (Manu when fit)

JJ is a 13, 36 is a 12. Why compare them?

And I'd throw Slade in as well probably at the expense of Barritt when Manu's fit

Doesn't make sense. 12 & 13 have different attributes.

36 is a gain line ball player..... JJ is a wide channels player they have very different attributes because they play different positions.

Stick JJ n at 12 or 10 and see how he does.

But then Burrell is a 12 playing 13 and is a gain line ball player. So why not stick him at 12 instead of 13 like England have been using him at.

And then but JJ @ 13.

I'm not suggesting that JJ plays 12, I'm saying that 12trees shouldn't be in the squad. Eastmond in as a 12, Burrell and Barritt in as 12/13s and JJ in as a 13.

I agree. 36 was an absolute liability against Sarries. Sinlehandedly trying to lose them the match. I think it would do him good to stay at Gloucester and work on regaining his form from this time last year under less of a spotlight.

Gloucester/England have stuck 36 at 10 and 12 to see what he's like in those positions ..... We weren't impressed

Fast becoming the new Ashton

I think there is no way JJ can be kept out of the England setup and no way 12trees can stay in it based on current form. Being the biased Bath fan that I am, I want to see Ford, Eastmond, JJ but realistically I'd be happy with Ford + 1 of the others. I just can't see any viable argument that can be made against it. We point out England's inability to be creative and then when the most creative axis is presented, people find reasons not to use it, instead favouring people whos skillset is limited to defending a bit better.

Also the potential to have Tuilagi and JJ as 13 options is great because they have such different styles of play. It would allow us to choose the right person for the game. Same with Eastmond vs Burrell.

I think you'd have to go for either Burrell-Joseph or Eastmond-Burrell at the start of the 6N. I'd personally like to see a Ford-Burrell-Joseph axis given a go

But you directly compared 36 to JJ - is my point. Why drop a 12 for a 13 if 12 is our real problem area?

what? Like i've been saying for the last moth or so? :D

Ford, Eastmond, JJ imo wouldn't work in Internationals against the top 3 SH teams IMO.

I reckon it'd get creamed.

wouldn't mind any of those..

From what I saw, Joseph was immense today. I have no doubt he'll make the EPS but I still don't think he'll be in the team. He clearly just isn't the type of player England are after at the moment. As was mentioned a while back, England like to pick players to fit an, often quite narrow, system. However the backs are being organised, Joseph doesn't fit into that system.

Not happy about that, but thats how it is and he won't be the first or last good player to miss out because of it. I think we'll see:

9. Youngs, 10. Ford, 11. May, 12. Twelvetress, 13. Burrell, 14. Nowell, 15. Brown. Bench: Care, Farrell, Watson.

If 36 stays standing and doesn't brain fart in the way he has been doing for Glos then that is a decent backline. It isn't the best we could put out in an ideal world, but it is perfectly able of winning a 6N IMO.

Brown was outplayed by Tait last weekend. And Tigers got thumped.

Well Tait, when fit, is the best fullback on attack in England IMO. So I may give you that!

Brown is the best 15 under the high ball bar none, and a phenomenal defender.

He's completely devoid of any spark in attack though, and even though i know he's not slow he seems to lack top end pace when i watch him. Personally i like 15's that hit hard straight lines outside the 13, it's a bit old fashioned i suppose, but i just like 15's who see a gap and hit it on the end of a pass... for me Brown seems to be scared of running that hard lines and plays too much like a third center, or in traffic like a winger.

Also his support running is atrocious.

I'll agree the support running can go a bit awol at times, but I think saying he's devoid of spark in attack is a little unfair.

Joseph was like a man playing with kids (in a not pervy way), he was just on a different level.

Oh I have a very big doubt if he'll make it in the EPs and that is Lancaster's selection.
