[2015 RWC] Pool B: South Africa vs. Japan (19/09/2015)

Also, a win for heads up attacking rugby. Some of those Japanese tries were bliss to watch.

That Japanese fullback would be a very good acquisition for most AP teams, same with the replacement 8 mafi

Amazing stuff from Japan, But......as a Scotland supporter, god help us. Surely South Africa can't play as badly again, never seen such a loose south African team; they usually own the tight. As for Japan is that their one big game? I bloody hope so,cos we have a tendancie to play to the level just below our opponents,in which case Japan will take our scalp as well even though their general play was inconsistent

Japan seemed to always make yardage going forward. Eddie Jones will get the freedom of Tokyo

Gobsmacked.
The RWC has come to life, thank you Japan, and we're off, God help us tomorrow, let that be a lesson to you All Blacks, strange upsets DO occur.
Incredible game, incredible result, great refereeing.

Well done to Japan . They sniffed an opportunity and with unrivalled passion and belief went to the wall. Fantastic spirit.

On the other hand :-There is just too much wrong in SA rugby at the moment

To criticise coaches & players is natural but imho the root of the problem lies with discriminatory selection policies.
The problem is these politicised idiots running SA rugby are too arrogant and ignorant to realise the damage their policies are causing.
A sad day for SA rugby.

Banzai!! this must be biggest victory upset in the history of sport! it happens in the soccer world cup now and again but there's no comparison with rugby where you can't just defend no hiding place in this game! I'm delighted for Japan I'm delighted for Georgia too this is exactly the good publicity the world cup needs. I'd be worried if I was a jock no stopping Japan now!

Based on the IRB ranking system, Japan are now ranked 10th, ahead of Scotland! Gained 4 pts for this, with RWC matches being worth double. SA slip to 6th, a smidgeon ahead of France, prior to their game tonight.

This game showed not just rugby but the whole world, never give in, never give up, if you want it enough you will achieve greatness..

They've been playing badly for a while tbh. I thought Scotland beating SA was the most likely upset. So, half-right...

At least we know there are saffa fans who remain calm: Heineke Mayer is proved to be one of the best coachs of all time for boks. Numbers say so.

What a great evening.

Arigato gozaimasu.

Yup does anyone know how many handling errors they made?

Haven't a clue but this was a game they looked dangerous from minute 1.
The centres had great games but seriously looked good. The kicker said he based his whole technique on Wilkinson and he's getting there.
The pack looked very cohesive and huge credit there goes to Steve Borthwick. But the best bit is they had a 23 man squad that all contributed and it's hard to explain how hard it is to produce that with 0 experience really of playing at that level with that exposure. They weren't hanging in there defending they were the guys pressing the pedal for it.

Where does that put the world rankings now? Surely Japan got a shed load of points.. And what were the odds at the start of this game?! Someone could have made a small fortune on this game!
