[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Australia (03/10/2015)

Im finally posting here after the game, needed sleep after a rugby marathon night. First off as both a french and an australian national, I'd never thought I'd ever feel compassion for all the english fans but I truly do. You guys were hard done, bad luck of the draw. Any other pool and you would have been through.
And how exciting is it to see australia playing like that??? I feel 15 or 20 years younger suddenly. On this last day of rugby league in australia, there is no better way to get some grassroot support for this sport again. Still not sure anyone will bother to watch the games as they are so early in the morning... But we can only hope (I confirm union is a minority game here played by kiwis or posh kids...). I only migrated to australia in 2002 so Im not too sure of how popular the teams captained by eales or gregan were? but surely it can only be bigger than the state of union nowadays.
Australia seems to be real contenders now. hope they keep it up!

Australia toy with the dad's army team

After all the bull**** from the poms brigade saying what they were going to do with the wallabies on Saturday we end up seeing a total whitewash and Burgess not being worth a bar of soap and another "alsoran"ending up best on ground it became a complete farce, If England don't try and revert to the style of play the Southern Hemisphere teams have adopted they are never going to be in the same class,..it's only a matter of time before Argentine are above England in class all the others are way above England......By the way what are the ages of the Pommy players? some of the forwards look to be in their 40s to me.

Their team is one of the youngest of the tournament

I really don't know what to expect from this game. The Wallabies have shown serious improvement in their scrum this year and also put on some pretty slick moves over the RC and games since, but at the same time we just don't have a world class goal kicker,

What to think about our not world class goal kicker Foley now sanzar???

To be honest, I think Argentina are already ahead of England. They have been really impressive this year.

Swallows and summers. This has been something of a nadir for England; Argentina have an ageing squad and a new international selection policy to overcome. They'd probably beat us tomorrow but that's no guarantee of what would happen next year.

Well they have an identity and strong direction. Where do you see England next year?

To be honest, not a great surprise. Well done to the Wallabies, better team all round.
In the end Lancaster, coaches and players weren't experienced or good enough. Agree with Johny that there are no short cuts to RWC glory. I don't think Lancaster or the coaches can stay on after this. Lancaster is a decent man, but just can't see him as a serial winner. Time to phase out the likes of Robshaw, Wood, Parling and build a team around the Junior RWC teams of 2013 and 2014 ready for 2019.

At approx 8mm north east a day i would say hmmm 288cm north east if its current position. [emoji2]

.... oh not what you meant. [emoji45]

Depends on who's coaching, doesn't it? Maybe we'll discover the next genius and click, maybe we'll implode, maybe Kofi Annan will be head coach and we'll spend all game trying to negotiate treaties for better sea transportation of rice instead of tackling them. Let's wait and see.

You need a Kiwi, give Wayne Smith a call ;)

Yeah nah. A kiwi coach set us back 20 years.

You picked the wrong one, I was never a fan of Robbie Deans, built his reputation on the back of the rise of McCaw and Carter and a stacked Canterbury team.

Yeah. We should do it quickly too, just in case he disagrees and we need to have SAS kidnap him before he goes home. Can we have Rennie too please? G'wan, we'll be your friends.

Only disadvantage of course if they'd have to learn what goes on here pretty quick, but there we go.

Dunno. The worst has happened, that lifts a weight off of you. It's like when your grandfather's got something horrible, you know it's going to happen sometime, he's not having fun, it's not fun to see it... when it's over, there's almost a sense of relief more than anything. Not sadness and anger. That comes from remembering the year or so of false hope and pain.

Then again, I did just compare this to my granddad dying, so maybe it is pretty rough after all
Pretty much this you try to convince yourself it's not going to happen but something tells you it will.

On the state of England that's a very different game without the terrible bits of defensive work that gifted Aus 14 points (superb play to capitalise on it). And the Wales game we've been over too much imagine if it was a draw now everyone kick to the corner was clearly the wrong decision. I was more disappointed last week as we should of beaten Wales. It would of taken us to play the game of our lives to beat Aus.
