[2015 RWC] Pool A: Australia vs. Wales (10/10/2015)

As an aussie, I'm curious as to why the English would support Wallabies over Wales?

There's some funny 'leaked' info floating around the net, including a team selection that has Hook starting at 13 and Anscombe at 14.

I don't know how trustworthy the info is but I should imagine that Gatland would be willing to get a bit fruity with his pics considering he's already achieved the minimum and any possible scenario involving a Wales final would have to be an almost total reimagining of our backline for attacking intent.

hook at 13 maybe, but i cannot see anscombe being picked on the wing, i have no doubt he'll have the pace to play there but i cant see gatland picking someone in a position they have never played before. Anscombe will either be bench or start at 15. Although if he was going for a bit of experimental type of selection i think we're more likely to have matthew morgan on the wing in place of cuthbert. seems the most suited to that position in our international team than fullback or 10

Australia by 40 points.
Wales are decimated by injury.
If/when Wales lose this one, how sick will Robshaw be about the decision NOT to take that kick.
Bonus point England would be going through.

LOL Wales were decimated by injuries when they scored that try under the posts against England. And when Biggar slotted the penalty from halfway. And a couple of the injuries are returning this week. Upwards and Onwards !!!

Because Wales effectively dumped England out of the world cup and made their whole 'superior' 'elite' setup look pretty awful. Thats why the hostility towards Wales LOL

No, not really. Australia put the final nail in.
a) Wales play crap rugby (they may win but it's crap to watch)

b) Have you seen how much hostility we get from Welsh fans in general? We don't get from Aussies just banter.

c) We should of beaten Wales, it never looked like we'd beat Australia.

Well, yeah on reflection because England were never going to beat Austrailia now were they? :D

I guarantee it won't be 40 points fella even with Cuthbert playing.

That's downplaying it a little... Wales put the still moving body in an open casket. The Wallabies then came and filled it with concrete, nailed it shut and dumped it at sea :p

Now whose a troll.

I was replying to a thread of conversation that stemmed from this.

Fair enough, would imagine its as hard for some English fans to support Wales and visa versa as it would be Oz to All Black.
I would add that the question you responded to was tongue in cheek, as your average Australian would choose to shout for whoever plays V the All Blacks and visa versa.

Wales are a certainty to win. I've just bought tickets for the first quarter final which is for the runners up in pool A!! I wonder how many aussies only have tickets for the 4th quarter final on the basis that they were a certainty to win the group. Come Saturday night there many be many welsh fans like me trying to give our tickets back hoping that many aussies will be doing the same for the winners quarter final.

Beginning to agree hopefulgog. Wallabies can't back up good wins, especially with injuries and outside of Australia. But who knows, Wales have injuries.

Umm, Australia did win all their Rugby Championship matches consecutively this year... just sayin'
