As I'm finally seeing players younger than me playing for the regions, I've given up on the dream and am not going to include myself on the list for Wales. I can see the team staying largely the same for the next two years, just with depth building behind the first XV.

I suppose it will always be tough to do threads like this. Take a look at Wales in 2011. Nobody had even heard of George North until September 2010, with one year to go. Likewise, Faletau was only capped a few months before the WC started. You never know who will surprise in the months leading up. Morgan Stoddart was pretty much certain to go until a month before, when he broke his leg. Brew, who was pretty much a fringe squad player, went instead. I think Stoddart would have played a larger role in the campaign that Brew did. Maybe Leigh wouldn't have been shifted to fullback against Ireland. Then again, if Stephen Jones didn't pull out in the warmup to England, Priestland would have been at fullback and Stoddart wouldn't have been injured. Funny how that little change really made some drastic adjustments.

Harry has a great chance to crack the Welsh squad right now. With Eli injured, now is his chance to get in. I can see room for three dedicated wings, although if a player such as Prydie or Williams steps up, their ability to play wing and FB will get them in. I think we could see either Steven Shingler or Rhys Patchell go. They offer a more controlled game that the staff likes as opposed to Hook. They also have played inside centre and fullback, offering great bench versatility. Glad to see Steven Shingler included for the Japan tour, a good prospect, always liked seeing him play. He has a pretty good pass and was accurate off the tee for Llanelli RFC. Owen Williams could also be an option, but at the expense of either Biggar or Priestland (can't see three dedicated standoffs going).

I'd really like to see the players' ages, because it helps put things in perspective.
For example, here's Invictus's NZ squad from the OP (because I am unoriginal and about as creative as a piece of cardboard), with their ages as of 18th Sept 2015 (first match of the 2015 RWC):

New Zealand

Hookers
- K Mealamu (36)

Italics indicate non-capped players.

Notes:
- Eight players in their thirties - not unreasonable considering we had seven in the last world cup (Flynn, Hore, Mealamu, Woodcock, Thorn, A Williams, McCaw) but five of them in the backs is probably pushing it. I would suggest at least one of C Smith and Jane would not make it, and I don't think we will be needing Weepu. Kahui is doubtful as well.
- Really need a new hooker talent or two - I don't think Mealamu would be there.
- The locks are probably the most well-stocked position.
- Six uncapped players - probably about as many as could be named right now, although there might be a couple more.
- Irrelevant, but looking through players' birth dates, I was shocked by the amount of players who were born in the 90s (a full third of this squad, most likely more by the time the world cup comes around).
