[2014 Mid-Year Test] South Africa vs Wales (2nd Test)

Had to be a penalty try and also a yellow.....well done Walsh!!!

PS show me a ref who does not allow a wonky feed?!!

Now another one off. Wales need to either shut down the mall immediately or just try to contain it. You can't try to counter attack against a South African maul because they just re-group and push through.

I'm going for Wales but the Boks got together well to go almost Coast to coast.

And Steve Walsh has screwed us. Why are SA allowed to get away with trick and trailer? Literally there's so many obstructing players in the maul it's unreal... First one was fair, second.one and penalty try was utter ****e

Ah the old referee at fault again!!

Wales looking awesome! Really competitive in the rucks, dominating the collisions and playing with plenty of width! Complete reversal of last week - great to watch.

Think you maybe on time delay.....it is almost half time and Wales WERE dominating but not now!!

He's right of course - there is hardly any way to legally defend a maul if the attacking team is able to seal off the ball. In rugby the ball is always meant to be a fair contest - that isn't true in a maul. Unfortunately that are how they are policed these days. If you watch old games then currently mauling tactics used to be penalised every time. Walsh hasn't screwed Wales - the modern interpretations used by referees has done so.

How the hell is Walsh letting Phillips keep getting away with his wonky feeds into the scrum??? The whole issue of straight feeds is being ignored yet again.

At least he's being consistent, he's letting Du Preez do exactly the same thing.

Haha yeah so it is - forgot my sports channel was on pause for a while earlier. Still much better from Wales though - more the type of play we expect from them.

Yep, now I'm up to where Wales have been reduced to a Rugby League team and the Springboks just ran around them - heck of a try all the same.

They were down 17-6 against Scotland last year at the same venue.

I think the Springboks should stop coming to Nelspruit... :p

Just seen a replay.....at no time was the maul terminated........there was alway a Welsh player involved at the front of it and the ball carrier was always connected to the maul....my understanding is that a "truck and trailer" is where the ball carrier is being led by an unopposed teammate in front of him....not the case here?

Maybe in this case (I haven't seen a replay). I just feel a lot of teams use all sorts of illegal tactics such as players entering a maul beyond the ball carrier and stopping defenders from coming through the middle and getting to the ball carrier.

How is Jenkins supporting his own body weight in that turnover on the Beast?
