2014 6 Nations: Wales vs Scotland (Round 5)

i dont know how scotland can change their style at all like i know were a man down but omg at least make the tackles

Can't help but feel sorry for the travelling supporters...I think I saw a good number of them during the anthems. Imagine paying all that money; but I guess as Scotland supporters, they should know what they're getting into. :p In all honesty, I'm actually surprised that they have enough fans to sell out Murrayfield every year. What the hell is Scottish rugby's problem...and when is it getting fixed? I saw their woman got beaten 69-0 last week.

The game is dying in that country, and it's pretty much unfixable, Scots would rather turn out in droves for their hilariously awful Football league.

Scottish rugby is well and truely dead. Absolutely clueless in attack and terrible in defence, even with the red card being taken into account. Their U20's are even worse. Can't see Scotland having a team that is even half decent in the next 5 years.

But that contradicts Mark Dodson's aim that Scotland should aim to win next year's World Cup and a Grand Slam by 2016? ;0) LMAO.

Is this something we genuinely need to consider... Scotland dying out...?

Genuine question.

Gats was obviously feeling bad for Scotland as he has brought on Priestland.

At this rate they'll end up like Romania then. :(

Pretty sad to see, what was once one of the great rugby powers, in such a state. If you were to tell someone new to rugby that Scotland once finished fourth in a World Cup and won the last ever 5 Nations, they'd probably spit in your face.

I actually recall reading in a book called Top 10 of Everything Rugby- or something, that a big part of the reason for Scottish rugby's current state was this guy:

Absolutely, they have actually been playing well above where they should be for some time now, due to

A ) Getting lucky with freak conditions, they seem to have won a few upsets in recent memory in atrocious conditions that have equalized the talent levels.

B ) Foreign imports, lot's of the players we get excited about for Scotland were actually developed elsewhere and were eligible for the Scottish team via watching Braveheart.( Didn't Scottish rugby actually come out and say there strategy was to find as many project players as possible?)

C ) Being part of the old boys club, Scotland have a voice on the IRB council and in rugby in general in way out of proportion to their actual importance based on their position in the game decades ago, this has helped them.

D ) They do have two pro sides playing at a decent level, which has helped them keep a tiny gap over the Tier Two's e.g. Romania, Georgia, Canada etc. it's hard to say how much longer it will take for those countries to catch up( if they aren't already there )but I would guess soon, Scotland very well could have finished last in their pool in 2011 had Romania not collapsed in the final 10 and Georgia had any kind of finishing in their game.
