2013 Pacific Nations Cup: Japan vs. Canada 19/06/13

Tanaka is a dynamite little scrum half. I'd love to see what he could do with a first class back line.

Pritch over 500!!!! In his 50th cap!!!! 13-13, all to play for and here comes the cavalry off the bench.

Shows I'm getting my info in the wrong place. The little blurb I have up on the screen has him playing in Japan. I'll have to watch more Super Rugby. Thanks.

Oh come on Canada, need better discpline, a draw probably won't cut it, since Tonga and Fiji would probably have to draw on the weekend.

The punt kicks in this match from Canada are travelling barely 15 metres. Something to do with the wet air or just wind?

Canada get the Bonus point So they sit on 13 points Fiji are in second 11 Points and Tonga sit 3rd with 10 points. Winner between Tonga and Fiji to win the Pacific Nations Cup.

Damn.

Has Hearn ever made a kick?

Congrats to the 3 newbies who got their debut today.

If it's a draw what on earth happens? Obviously a four try draw for Fiji wins if for them, but does Canada win in a draw or Fiji on points differential?

Not a classic with standards lowered by tired sides in wet conditions, the ball was a bar of soap out there which didn't help two sides that like to play backs moves and who to their credit did manage 2 nice tries in the match. Canada can be pleased with the effort in this tournament and match considering the massive injury count. They need to work on their ability to adapt their game to wet conditions and learn how to catch a kickoff.

The commentators are lauding this as some great Japan win, but really considering how ravaged the Canada side is who were forced to travel as well, a win was really expected for them given the advantages they had.

Head to head Canada win I think? That's what it is at World Cup, and it an IRB tournament, but I couldn't say for sure.

Who do you think will win the USA Japan match for the Raeburn Shield on the weekend?

USA have had two of their worst and flattest performances for a while against the Pacific Islanders, but are strengthening their team for that match having rested a few players for the Fiji game. Japan are at home and will reinforce their front five to full strength again I presume, but will need to play better than this performance against Canada and hope it doesn't rain. It will be both sides' 3rd match in 7 days.

Feel gutted for our boys, Hearn has quietly had a decent June. How did the three new guys go? I only saw the first 20 minutes of the game.

Didn't quite realise watching it via the TV coverage how heavily it was raining. But looking at this picture show how heavy it was and why there was so many dropped balls and it was quite a sloppy game. This is the second PNC match with Japan it has tipped it down now after the Fijian swamp match. I bet they're glad it wasn't like this against Wales as it really would have suited Wales massively.

Not going to lie I am not a big fan of bonus points. The fact that Canada beat both Fiji and Tonga only to have one of them win the tournament (most likely) is a bit of a farce to me.

I get you CR, letting Fiji get a losing BP from us and us not putting Tonga to the sword has really cost us.
