2013 British and Irish Lions

Am I the only one who's a bit apprehensive about Tuilagi in the midfield for the Lions? He's gonna tour no matter what, but I can't help but worry about having him at 12. It's all well and good when he's got front foot ball and someone putting him in space, but if things are going badly and the opposition match his physicality he kind of disappears and when he does have the chance to do something, he just puts his head down and takes the tackle. Italy pretty much marked him out of the game, though his case certainly wasn't helped by Flood giving him the ball every single set move! Wales did the same, and smashed him back whenever he did take the ball into contact, and he mucked up at least 2 possible try chances, his confidence seemed to drop a bit after that.
Didn;t see the Ireland - England game, but my old flatmate (an avid England fan with a hatred for Tuilagi) said he mucked up a couple of chances when he came on there, he said he'd much prefer seeing 36 start over him.

Not really, because

1 - He won't be in the test team unless he's in form, and if he's in form, it's a different ball game
2 - Not many centres look good on poor ball when the defensive line can get in their face before they can build momentum. If that scenario comes up, we've got bigger problems than who's at centre, and which centre is busy getting nailed makes little difference

Yeah, he might fail to give the ball and blow a try scoring opportunity, which would be uncool and probably something he'd be more likely to do than most of the other centres - not by much compared to some imo, but there we go. Nobody will care if the pack gets on top, he's given some good ball, and he tramples over the Ozzie defence en route to the tryline.

People who hate Tuilagi are the rugby equivalent of cardigan wearing anorexics from Shoreditch with the facial hair of a paedophile.

HA, definitely passing that on to my flatmate :p kinda suits him

1- very true, he's just a bit unpredictable for my liking I suppose, would prefer someone far more reliable if I was picking the test team tomorrow. Long way to get yet, hopefully he proves me wrong and smashes stuff up in the warm up games!
2 - true again, just feel that a different centre, for example on form Roberts (if he builds on his good game against England and returns to some sort of form anyway...) might be able to dig themselves/the team out of a whole that little bit better. We'll see anyway!

I personally think Brian O'Driscoll is a good player.

True number 7 man, I agree with this fact all the time. But have nobody listen, and I never understood why. He is the one guy you see in the videos all around, and all the people on the rugby tv talk about this man Driscoll 24 hours a day! Such a huge player. Nobody will touch him. Anyone who will not bring this guy Driscoll to the lions team has no brain inside their head haha :D

Fair call on him being slightly erratic - like most 21 year olds, form can slide around.

I'm reasonably certain that if Roberts is pitched into these circumstances, we'll start calling him out of form quite quickly, as I reckon he wouldn't be able to dig himself out either. It's the problem for all physical backs once the run up is denied. Really, you need evasive running and good hands across the backline for times like that, and who have we got like that?

If our pack don't win this up front, the backline is screwed.

.....The Irish?:D

Continental trollin...

I have to say I absolutely loved him for a short period of time.

But I can safely say there is nothing I despise more in this earth than the eu. Tyrannical , sovereignty stealing , money grabbing lapdog of Germany.

Sadly the Irish people are still holding out the jar of Vaseline begging for another going over from herr Merkel.

You have just put an awful image in my mind.....

Ah sure, you can't beat them roads though.

Hold on.

Country = EU.

You what.

Ha I have EU as my country for Europe, for a joke ya know! As a kid, to now, I travel from many countries to other ones, live in different places all over Europe. So, I guess, Europe is my one true country, you see. I never have been one country person for any long time at all, me, haha.

Rugby King for best new member :D

And Lynam, I thank you immensely for this writing! I never have had friendly response on a new forum, like this one. Every guy on this one is cool, ya know? Just, hell yeah! All the forums of rugby everywhere apart from the one here are just wrong, man.
