1st test - Australia v British & Irish Lions

I was going to say who cares we won. That's what matters, right?

Oh no, that's silly of me, people still discredit the 2013 win (against a far better Australia team) to this day so if Farrell wins 3-0 I'll do the same.
I think its just discredited as "not great opposition a gnag could of coached that side victory".

The same this time around really.

Where Gatland looses his credibility is 2017.

You need to run those 2013 games through Harry's software before anyone will take you seriously.

Selection at 7 certainly wouldnt make or break the series, the tight 5 of the lions are so dominant, and ive said this before, the only way the lions lose the series is if Farrells gameplan was overly complex and the large units dont function at all.

I think the first 50 mins on Saturday proved that won't be the case, the tight 5 were immense and absolutely dominated. Genge really stepped up, and Sheehan was best on the park by a mile (my MOTM).

The only fear for test 2, is Farrell making no changing, and Aus adapting to combat that physical dominance.

These guys can have whatever stats they want, its meaningless unless you very, but please, highlight these dominant tackles, in only remmeber 1 solo, and 1 combined.
What your software didn't pick up the dominant tackles, but loads of negatives meaningfully?

You'll have to contact ESPN and Rugby Pass if you want them to highlight where you are wrong

I feel like it is our role as Welshman to be absolute cretins during this tour. You know, in keeping with the spirit of the lions and “unity”.

Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie. Oi Oi Oi.

So, how software works is that you dont analyse every element of every players performance all at once, you have to set parameters lol.

Once again, if it helps unbunch your panties, im not slating Curry, his first half was OK, he had some positive contributions, but he isnt fully fit or on top form, that's not debatable by anyone who knows the sport.

He was selected for his size and physicality over the skillset of VDF or engine of Morgan, and it worked OK (I think the only area that was bad first half was the backrows inability to secure ball up the field, but that's a combo of Curry and Bierne).

However, the fact noone can acknowledge he made mistakes, is injured clearly, and struggled after less than 10 mins into the 2nd half is telling, it means the arguments in his favour arent merit based, they're emotionally based.

I hope Farrell resists the urge to play safe in the second test. The first test was won comfortably. For the second test mix it up entirely with loads of changes. If the second test is lose, that makes for a great third test with the safe team (test 1 team). If it’s won, then 30 odd players can claim they were directly instrumental in securing a tour victory. From a morale perspective, that’s the best thing to do

That is some weird logic

It's not! Think about it, he plays safe and wins the series. The third test becomes pointless and the excitement is lost.

Can you really say the tour is equally as exciting if the third test is irrelevant rather than a tour deciding one?
I think a whitewash in a Lions series and whether it can be prevented is always interesting.

I want Australian rugby to thrive. It’s well known fans are more likely to ditch their team and lose interest if it’s constant losses. The WRU has seen that. I don’t want Australia’s problems to worsen. A competitive series and a nail biting final test is good for both fans and helps out with the Australian finances

I havnt seen a comment on this thread, could you quote me one please?

Im not commenting on BBC or FB comments lol, ive just seen some calling for Farrellntonstepndown before test 2 for selecting his boy mid week hahaha

I already told you which post it is on this thread (888). It's on page 45. Really not that difficult to find.

This is getting boring now. Every report and podcast I’ve seen or heard say that Curry was phenomenal, so I think you need to drop this and move on for the good of your health.

I think we're getting a bit hyperbolic- I wouldn't class any player's performance as "phenomenal" from Saturday's game. Curry played very well- he was part of a back row which performed far better than I was expecting, but it's also fair to say that he dipped in the second half before getting taken off, and it's clear his hand was causing him concern. I wouldn't be surprised to see him rested this Saturday with a view of utilising his physicality for 60 minutes in the third test, especially if Australia can bring back some of their big hitters by then.
